Site footer names the wrong regulator
Every betr.com.au page footer still reads "Licensed and regulated by the Northern Territory Racing Commission" and links to NT dispute and self-exclusion forms, while the T&Cs name the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission.
Deposits must be turned over
The T&Cs require every deposit to be turned over at least once before a withdrawal is authorised, and say requests received before 4pm on a business day may be processed the next business day.
$100,000 maximum payout
The maximum payout is $100,000 per bet on sports markets and on multis, $100,000 on Australian racing and $50,000 on overseas racing.
No AFL streaming

Regulator and court actions on the public record
- November 2022: the Northern Territory Racing Commission fined NTD Pty Ltd trading as betr $20,655 (127.5 penalty units, 75% of the maximum) for direct marketing to a self-excluded person by phone and text in the week before its launch, a breach of clause 8.9 of the NT Code of Practice and condition 16 of its licence.
- February 2023: the NT Racing Commission imposed the maximum fine of $55,080 for two further breaches, unsolicited direct marketing calls by betr employees and affiliates in its first week of trading, taking penalties to more than $75,000, and said repeat offences could bring licence suspension or cancellation.
- April 2023: Liquor & Gaming NSW issued Betr 14 penalty infringement notices totalling $210,000, which Betr paid, for launch advertising of 100-1 and 20-1 odds on the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, NRL and AFL markets that the regulator treated as inducements to open an account or bet more.
- April 2024: BlueBet Pty Ltd (now part of betr) was fined $50,000 by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission after pleading guilty to 43 charges of displaying gambling advertising on digital billboards above public roads in August and September 2022; no conviction recorded.
- May 2025: the NT Racing and Wagering Commission fined NTD Pty Ltd (the betr licensee) $17,952 (102 penalty units, 60% of the maximum) for allowing a customer who had self-excluded to open a new betting account; the decision records the NTD and BlueBet merger taking effect on 1 July 2024.
- August 2025: the NT Racing and Wagering Commission fined BlueBet Pty Ltd $53,380, the maximum available, over its handling of a VIP customer during 2021 who lost $570,000, finding it prioritised a profitable customer over its responsible gambling obligations.
- March 2026: the NT Racing and Wagering Commission dismissed a complaint against Betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd (formerly NTD Pty Limited) about a customer who deposited $190,000 in two weeks in 2023, finding the licensee had complied with the Act and its licence conditions and that the wagers were lawful.
- July 2026: betr moved from the Northern Territory to a Tasmanian Gaming Licence effective 7 July 2026. The Tasmanian Treasurer said "A number of existing Tasmanian regulatory requirements do not appropriately reflect the technology, operating models and governance arrangements of modern online wagering businesses" and that the legislation would be refined.

App-store written reviews are self-selected and skew to the extremes: 88% of the 491 classified reviews are 1-star or 5-star. The store-wide averages (4.57 on the App Store AU from 22,892 ratings, 4.5 on Google Play from about 3,700) come from far larger rating pools that include people who never wrote a review.
The App Store feed exposed 491 written reviews spanning ten years (from 21 September 2016, when the app was BlueBet, to 24 September 2026); 391 of them predate 28 September 2025 and many predate the August 2024 rebrand to betr. The theme table therefore mixes BlueBet-era and betr-era reviews.
Google Play written reviews were not collected: Google exposes no public review feed and no scraper was used. Google Play figures are the public page aggregates only.
Keyword classification is approximate. Reviews with no diagnostic words fall into other (128 of 491). The promotions theme is inflated by the word "bonus", which appears in BlueBet and betr promotional wording quoted by reviewers. Rules are in scripts/research/classify-reviews.mjs and can be re-run.
ProductReview.com.au (71 reviews, 1.2) and Trustpilot (27 reviews, 2-star graphic, unclaimed) are small and skew negative, as complaint sites do. Neither is a usable measure of Australian customer sentiment on its own.

Is Betr legal in Australia, and who regulates it?
Yes. betr.com.au is operated by betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd (ABN 42 607 521 835), which holds a Tasmanian Gaming Licence granted by the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission, effective 7 July 2026 for an initial five-year term. It appears on the ACMA register of licensed interactive gambling providers with the TLGC as its licensing authority. Before July 2026 it operated under Northern Territory licences; the NT list now marks Betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd as not currently trading, and the site footer still names the NT Racing Commission.
Is Betr the same company as BlueBet?
Yes. BlueBet and betr merged in 2024 (the NT regulator records the merger taking effect on 1 July 2024), the consumer brand became betr on 14 August 2024, and the listed parent BlueBet Holdings was renamed betr Entertainment Limited (ASX: BBT) in April 2025. The apps still carry BlueBet package and bundle names, and the site footer links to the old BlueBet App Store path. TopSport was acquired in April 2025.
How long does a Betr withdrawal take?
The help page says withdrawal requests are processed multiple times per day, 7 days a week, and that customers whose bank accepts fast payments should receive funds within a few hours, including weekends and public holidays; other banks take 1 to 2 business days. PayPal withdrawals can take up to one business day to process, and international transfers 2 to 5 business days. The T&Cs separately say requests received before 4pm on a business day may be processed the next business day. Withdrawal delays were mentioned in 7 of the 491 public reviews analysed.
Is there a maximum withdrawal on Betr?
No minimum or maximum withdrawal amount is published. The cap that applies is the maximum payout per bet in the T&Cs: $100,000 on sports markets, $100,000 on multis, $100,000 on Australian racing and $50,000 on overseas racing. Withdrawals are paid only to a bank account in the account holder's name, card deposits are refunded to the card first, and every deposit must be turned over at least once before a withdrawal is authorised.
Why does Betr ask for verification, and can I withdraw without it?
No. The T&Cs require ID and card verification before any withdrawal is processed, and betr says unverified accounts are restricted from depositing and betting. Since 29 September 2024 AUSTRAC requires online gambling providers to complete customer identification before an account is opened or a service provided. betr checks details electronically at sign-up and says most customers are verified in seconds; otherwise a selfie holding a driver licence, passport, proof-of-age card or national identity card is emailed to [email protected]. Cards are verified through CardFlow or a selfie holding the card.
Will Betr limit or close my account if I win?
betr publishes that maximum bet limits are set case by case by event and betting trends and that it may partly accept or reject bets; it does not publish a policy on limiting winning accounts. Minimum bet limits set by racing bodies apply to racing (T&Cs Schedule 2). Account restrictions, limits and closures were mentioned in 32 of the 491 public reviews analysed, 30 of them in negative reviews. Those are third-party reports and do not establish how often it happens.
Is Betr or Sportsbet better for AFL odds?
In the OzFootball 2026 sample Betr matched the best available AFL price on 38.1% of 774 comparable prices with a mean margin of 5.26%, ranking 4th of 12 bookmakers; Sportsbet matched the best price on 37.0% of 1,100 with a mean margin of 5.51%, ranking 5th by best price. Can I use a credit card on Betr?
No. Credit cards, credit-linked funds (including digital wallets) and digital currency have been banned for online and telephone wagering in Australia since 11 June 2024, and betr's FAQ says so. The deposit options are debit card, PayID, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer, all published as fee-free with $5 minimums where a minimum is stated; BPAY is named in the T&Cs but not on the help page.
Does Betr have a sign-up bonus or bonus code?
No. Under the National Consumer Protection Framework for online wagering, online gambling providers cannot offer any incentive to open an account or to refer someone else to open one, in force since 26 May 2019 (26 November 2019 in New South Wales). Liquor & Gaming NSW fined Betr $210,000 in 2023 over launch advertising it treated as inducements. OzFootball does not publish promotional offers.

Complaints go to [email protected] with a published response target of 1 to 3 business days; if you disagree with the decision the T&Cs say you can refer it to the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission.
Who owns Betr?
betr is owned by its ASX-listed parent, betr Entertainment Limited (ticker BBT), formerly BlueBet Holdings Ltd, so ownership is spread across public shareholders. The board is led by Matthew Tripp, who founded the original betr brand with News Corp Australia backing, and Michael Sullivan, who founded BlueBet in 2015. The operating company is betr Entertainment Aus Pty Ltd, with its main business location recorded in NSW 2000.
Has Betr been fined or investigated?
Yes. The NT Racing Commission fined betr $20,655 in November 2022 and $55,080 in February 2023 for direct marketing to self-excluded and non-consenting people around its launch. Liquor & Gaming NSW issued $210,000 in penalty notices in April 2023 over launch advertising. BlueBet, now part of betr, was fined $50,000 in Victoria in 2024 over billboard advertising and $53,380 by the NT commission in 2025 over a VIP customer. The NT commission fined the betr licensee $17,952 in May 2025 for letting a self-excluded customer open an account, and in March 2026 dismissed a separate complaint. betr does not appear on the ACMA investigations page.
What is the maximum payout on Betr?
The T&Cs (clause 12.2) set the maximum payout per bet at $100,000 for sports markets, $100,000 for multis, $100,000 for Australian thoroughbred, greyhound and harness racing and $50,000 for racing outside Australia. The Racing Rules cap the multi dividend at $1,001 and Top Fluctuation wins at $10,000. There is no separate AFL figure, so the sports markets cap applies.
Can I watch AFL on the Betr app?
No streaming of AFL is published. betr streams Sky Racing 1 and 2 and race replays to logged-in customers located in Australia. For AFL it offers a Live Tracker on iPhone (iOS 17.2, iPhone 14 Pro or later) that shows the score, game clock and Same Game Multi progress on the lock screen, and live scores in the app.
