West Perth 2026

Nah,I have more important WAFL things on my mind.

:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thats not true.

Better get on the phone to Sport FM Mate,to repudiate the things said after their Game Broadcast yesterday.

Go to about 2.55 onwards of the 3+ Hour Podcast to check it out.

Thanks for the update Winger. So you are saying he attended the festivities. I heard he didn’t from someone who certainly considers himself as knowledgeable of all things West Perth. Perhaps he has an axe to grind and is trying to muddy the waters.

I should popped my head in the door near the lift for a look.

It was their party and I left them to it.

It was a long enough day after Colts had finished anyway,…

Grassy. I’m waiting for a response from Winger. You have mentioned it was a long day numerous times. Careful not to derail threads.

I’m just saying I could have popped my head in the door and Bingo!

Paul Sanzone was there or not.

According to Sports Breakfast when Micale came on Jacob said he was reliably informed it was senior players that demanded he go. Interesting considering most of those seniors players are retiring or have they now they’ve got rid of the second coach in a season and a bit. Apparently Salecic attends training sessions and matches. Strange cat.

Strange cat and/or good sort?

Probably loves West Perth too much to hold a grudge and walk away. There’s a man who had the decency to swallow a huge lump of humility and show a brave face.

Good on 'im.

:+1:

Tail wagging the dog if so.

Or the opposite. Hasn’t taken his sacking too well and is undermining his replacement. Can’t have been good for Sanzone and the players with him looking on.

Indeed.
Greeted me with a hand shake and by my first name last Saturday as I was selling raffle tickets at the gate when he came through.

Sounds like the same players who wanted Salecic gone have claimed another coaching scalp in Sanzone too.

From a number of interactions I’ve had with both Salecic and Sanzone, I can’t see either of them wanting anything but the best outcomes for the WPFC.

Sanzone lost a trusted assistant coach mid season and there was mention that two other applicants for the job when Sanzone was appointed for this season where still involved at WP - presume it was two from Armstrong, Bewick and Harper as the most likely to apply with enough previous experience?

That couldnt have been a healthy working environment for Sanzone and certainly not when he was, like Salecic before him, trying to create cultural change with a resistant older player group who might have been absorbed in their own self interests.

I don’t suppose out of this mess,West Perth will do what Subi did,go back to an old Favourite and the next thing you know is,Harro gets his old job back.

Stranger things have happened but I don’t see it happening.

After my club, or should I say our previous President sacked Harro, which bit us in the rear end the next season. Harro stepped down and handed over the reigns to Salecic at the end of 2023. Harro was still involved at WP as a coaching mentor in 24 & 25

But when Salecic was removed last season he walked along with all of Salecic’s assistant coaching group some who’d also worked with Harro.

I bumped into Harro a month or so after Salecic was removed and he was fuming at the current board and now former CEO for how they handled it. With how Sanza has been treated by the same board I can’t see Harro’s opinion of them changing or him returning to coach WP

WPs AGM could be an interesting meeting this year…

Ok.

Thanks for that info,TT.

WAFL World should be really juicy tonight.

Probably need to give Tyler Keitel a nod here

we operate in a shitty style that largely ignores key forwards nowadays

so to achieve 6 leading goalkicker awards

really is quite professional

reckon he may have some more to go yet

Just as Townsend said on tonight’s show, Sanza went to Melbourne to meet potential recruits. Now all those meetings could be for nothing and will make it even harder enticing players to join us next year.

Thought and opinions?

Cheers

Yeah,I believe he and one or 2 others went there during the Bye in July,if I heard Brett Raponi right some weeks back.

From what was discussed on WAFL World on Monday sounds like the President has put a line through the current footy manager too so as it stands:

No CEO

No League Coach

No Footy Manager

No Black, Nelson, S Rotham, J Rotham, Guadagnin who have retired.

Yet to decide their future Keitel, Knott, Moultan, Pegararo?

A Captain who has only played a handful of games the last 2 seasons and apparently told Sanza he needed to resign as coach.

I’m thinking the President and Football Director needs to get their house tidied up as it’s an absolute mess at the moment at WP.

Recruitment needs to be done but by who? And who would want to go to a club with no key staff in place and clearly an unhappy player group.

I wonder if the playing group are pushing for premiership teammate Aiden Lynch to be appointed as the next Senior Coach.
