West Perth 2026

The WAFL better call in Korda Mentha again. Rudderless ship there’ll be some nervous creditors watching their transaction accounts on the due date.

It surely qualifies them as a BASKETCASE?

Just waiting for JT to apply to others,he applied to one.

JT has a broad vocabulary Ole, so I’m sure he’s got plenty of synonyms for basketcase he can use for WPs current situation. Take your pick, of dysfunctional, fiasco, Clusterf*ck, sinking ship, tail wagging the dog, lunatics running the asylum…

True, but I’ll happily settle for consistency in applying the one tag.

This isn’t an excercise of Stomping on a broken body.I Respect this Club far too much to do that.

But they are in an Undeniable Terrible Mess of their own making and it’s going to take an awful load of rebuilding to get the ship upright again.

And regardless of who the new League Coach is,amongst other important new appointees, the President and Board in particular are going to have to back them in for the long haul.

And when problems arise,do the right thing and work various through, instead of applying the age old kneej*rk reaction of Sacking personelle.

Agree, the strength of the WAFL has to be the 8 traditional sides performing strongly on and off the field.

What’s disappointing for WP, after getting back to a stable financial position over the last 5 years and remaining connected and competitive onfield and off through their financial rebuild, culminating in the 2022 Premiership, they have self imploded over the last 18 months.

Like him or loath him, Raponi summed it up perfectly the other day when he discussed how the Board, staff and playing group need to be aligned.

They clearly aren’t and it’s come at a huge cost that has torn away at the fabric of WPFC.

As much as we might dislike each other on game day, I hate to see any of the 8 true WAFL clubs struggling. The comp is weaker for it, which is why it’s so good to see Perth performing well onfield consistently.

Saying that go the Tigers this weekend!

While listening to Sports Fm broadcast last night, Townsend made a comment regarding Todd Curley coming back to coach West Perth. Has anyone else heard anything regarding this?

Nothing else really, though it seemed like only a former Coach would get the job.

If not Curley, maybe Monaghan or Harris.

Senior players were pushing for an experienced coach, with Todd Curley mentioned.

Whether WP have the resources available to attract an experienced coach with time in the AFL, who is available or interested and who is reaching out to possible candidates and making the decision who to appoint, with WP key staff turnover is another question.

I wonder if Nelson might play on else where…

Is always possible i guess. The story goes he and Black wished to play on, but were tapped on the shoulder and showed the door.

The best to person ask and has the intel would be Teflon Don. The West reported yesterday WP are going to announce new coach next week. Very interested to see who it might be!

Seems a fairly quick appointment given Sanza only quit 4 weeks ago and the clubs got an interim CEO and the President put a knife into the Footy Managers back too.

be interesting to see if it’s an internal appointment again or some one already lined up to take on the role.

Falcons1; could it be Aidan Lynch? He coached Scarborough Amateurs and now your Reserves this year. And they are in the Grand Final tomorrow.

A reward if they succeed?

That was mentioned by Townsend on WAFL World. But I’m not sure. It was mentioned they want an experienced coach who has the results on the board.

Todd Curley

He did mention that also. But how true is it?

I have heard Craig Smoker’s name being mentioned

Another one of Bill’s mates

Considering Smoker has stepped down from his assistant role at EF, wouldn’t surprise me if the fella heads back to Joondy…Wanneroo is a lot closer to Joondy then GGP from memory
