I’m no expert but I reckon Schlensog is being managed with finals in mind.
Oh I forgot yeas I am.
If Schlensog was picked we are playing 3 tall forwards, who has that luxury along with two ruckmen. Glass-McCasker played most of his footy in the VFL as a forward ruck. When he goes forward briefly in the two’s he regularly kicks 1 or 2. No fkn brainer and has all the flexibility of Schlensog. Doesn’t have that midfield ability Schlenga has but I believe can hold his own in the key posts and has a bit of grunt in him. Opportunity missed by this coach IMO.
Your thoughts on JGM after a year and a half. Asking as swans supporter
He had a big impact in his first game for us in the elimination final. Played on Jonno Marsh and kept him quiet. Never been given a go this season despite being added to the leadership group. Fit as a malley bull and chomping at the bit. Stone clearly doesn’t like him.
A quick search- played 5 League games this year- averages 4 touches. This peanut compares him to Schlensog- give me a spell. Glass-McCasker was on the outer at Swans, now at Perth- who’s next? Not EF
Yes I agree KCEF23, does not do enough.
Handy to have around for emergency.
You’d know idiot being an EF flog. No player gets thrown around more than him and he impacts in other ways I don’t need to explain to an EF tool. See if you can get a discussion going on your insipid clubs board. Luers and Preston-Coates picked in front of him give me a break.
I feel that’s swans coaches though presents like a gladiator. But that’s it doesn’t attack the ball doesn’t present enough doesn’t chase enough. Also always has low stats. Could of been a very freakish player.
I am in the camp that doesn’t rate GM. Just doesn’t get enough of the ball. That said, we erred last week in playing Luers. If we had to bring in another tall at all, GM would have been a better bet than Luers. At what point does the coaching panel realise that Luers is never going to make it as a league player? Preston-Coates should have been used as the back up ruck and a smaller player brought in to suit the conditions.
Finals will be all but guaranteed with a win tomorrow but it is not a gimme. We need more goals - you can overlook last week given the conditions, but we kicked 66p against EF and 69 against S. That might beat SD but it won’t win finals. Aaron Clarke’s form is a real concern. He barely touched it for three quarters against EF before kicking two in the last and has gone goalless in the last two games, such that he is now highly unlikely to win the Bernie Naylor. On paper, we should be able to do enough to beat SD. However, with a lucky win against EF followed by consecutive losses, we are faltering at the wrong time.
He’s halfway up the field playing to Instruction.
Why in heaven’s name is he there instead of up forward?
If we can stop messing around and give ourselves some targets to kick to,our opponents more often than not, won’t live with us.
Why we feel the need to have an arm wrestle with our opponents, with our forward line frequently empty,I will never know.
As I said before,we have 2 - 5/6 games left this year. How we play it,determines how far we go,with no disrespect to our future opponents for '26.
Let’s NOT let it fizzle into the Humiliation of Missing the Finals.
Now that IS the Definition of MEDIOCRITY!
Let’s make things happen,Demons!
2 Wins should mean Double Chance!
Are we desperate enough to want it that badly?!
It’s no coincidence that byrner didn’t play in the middle for half the Subi game and was played on the wing last week. Byrner back in the middle this week, Clarke will kick five
Guys don’t underestimate swans. I don’t know but we improve when we play perth. The coach will be telling the players we can help ruin the demons season. U just never know till the day.
I’m sure we won’t and I’m sure we’ll see a 4 Quarter Effort,this time around against Swans.
And play it smarter against the Taggers and Actors prevalent in Swans’ Team.I’m sure the Coaches and Playing Group will be a whole lot wiser, after the previous encounter.
To be honest if Perth want to play any significant part in finals they should be crushing Swans at home
Correct
Sing out Gardiner in.
Well, well, well Byrner played a blinder back in the middle, and Clarke kicked five
Take the win, but plenty of questions after that effort. Yet again, we were unable to put the foot down - a 32 point lead whittled down to 2 before we steadied. Like in round 1, SD ran harder. They had loose players and created overlap, while we just bombed down the line. Exemplified by Cooper Moore at the end of q3. He had a mark at half forward. Had time to assess options and went long to Johnston who had three against him. Some errors by SD proved critical in q4.
Looking to next week, I think Preston-Coates needs to be dropped. To be fair, he has been ok, but we are top heavy with him on top of Clarke, Johnno, Edwards, Harding, Scoble and Dean. Otherwise, as per usual, we had too many underperforming players - Gardiner, Moore, Fleiner and Brayshaw - but who comes in? Sing if fit for PC, maybe Watson. S Cameron and Murray have been getting decent numbers in the reserves. And speaking of the reserves, credit to them on a good win which secures a spot in the finals.
And to finals… a win will secure third and we can’t afford to falter and put our fate in the hands of other games. Byrne’s 150th gives ample motivation. Plus a sideline - Clarke is only a goal behind Keitel after the latter’s goalless game today. But if, God forbid, we lose, then wins to SF, EP and WCER will tip us out. PT are likely to have Darcy and Sturt out, and the Dockers may rest a couple. EP, despite injuries, are in rich form and should knock off Subi. WCER have won 4 in a row and are every chance to beat C. Bottom line, we have to win to take any uncertainty out of it.
