Doubt if they will fly anyone over for the last test. Inglis and Harper are there as spare batsmen. Would have to be some doubt about Smiths fitness

If Smith is out, they won’t drop Marnus…unfortunately Connolly, Green, Inglis and Harper haven’t had a bat in a while…so Marnus’s 3 x 30’s will see him right. Head scores a ton, he will open with either Renshaw or Harper…I say Harper, only because, if Smith is out, Green to 4, Renshaw stays at 5, with Connolly or Webster at 6, Carey 7, and no doubt the NSW 4, though TBH Boland with a 5 for can’t be dropped surely?..

I have no issues with Konstas being picked in fact at 21 I think he should be playing after we threw him to the wolves against India a couple of years ago. Id also be keen to see Ollie peak in the side as well as connelly.

I know people like smith, Marnus, Hazelwood, Carey and to a lesser extent Webster have been good, but they are either past their best or wont get better, without generational change now before we go to India we will lose there 4 nil and we will lose the ashes 3 nil (Rain in England is as sure as anything)
Not sure Green is a number 3 mate…4 or 5 for me…no way Peake is ready, averages mid 20’s…I would say for now Patterson at 3 or McSweeney at a push…if Head tons up, that’s 4 x 100’s from 9 tests as an opener…whether you bat Head 1 or 5…it’s boom or bust…always been that way with Head, that’s why he averages 40 at best in red ball cricket.

An absolute flogging in the equivalent of just over 3 days cricket. Credit to Temba Bavuma who is often ridiculed for his height but he played an innings that no Australian batsman could match and his captaincy was brilliant.
Only thing impaired with Smith today mikeh was his ego…thing that disappoints me is the lack of respect some of the ensconced players show for Boland…yeah they talk Scotty up off the park…but their actions on the park don’t back it up…
Boland put his head down today, and batted with patience and true grit…which was needed in the circumstances…sadly the shot selection of many others , reputedly more ‘skilled’ with the willow then Scotty, left a lot to be desired…Maddo, Labs, Webster, Smith and Starc was disrespectful to say the least…yet sadly Boland will be the one to make way for Lyon in the deciding test…

Be interesting to see who is picked for the deciding test…in all honesty for change to happen, esp v NZ over the summer, Aust need to get belted again…hate losing in cricket, esp to the Saffies, but if Aust go in with Boland out for Lyon, Maddinson out for Green/Inglis…and some how win the test, and the series…nothing will change for the NZ 1st test.
Gotta a feeling whatever happens in SA, and if Aust lose v NZ…Smith, Hazlewood and Lyon atleast will be pulling up stumps…with maybe Starc…just can’t see the first 3 on the plane to Eng or India…just doesn’t make sense.

They are clearly looking at legacy me thinks this group will try to stay together until India and the ashes hoping to win the test championship along the way - selfish IMO but that’s what i reckon 5 or 6 players are gunning for including the coach
If Green comes in, Maddinson will go out and Renshaw goes back to the openers spot. Would like to see Connelly get a go, just for the novelty of having a young guy in the team. Marnus will get one more chance but the real interest will be in the configuration of the bowling attack. They missed having a front line spinner in PE on that day 3 so my feeling is that Boland is going to go out again, unjust as that might be
Crazy to think that mikeh…Boland out bowls the bowlers, and out bats the top 6, bar Head…and yet is in the gun.
Starc or Hazlewood should make way, because the skipper won’t be dropped…just reckon they will go with the tried and tested formula…NSW big 3 and Lyon…with as you say Connolly for Webster, and Green for Maddinson, with Renshaw to opening or 3, as Labs will get another crack, either 3 or opening. Green to 5.
Can’t see Head going to 5, how many openers on the test arena currently, can say they have 4 tons from their last 9 tests, opening the batting? Head bats exactly the same way at 1 or 5, doesn’t matter where he bats.
