Will try and reply to Jacks thread after thinking about it for a while.Just going off thread for a while.Hearing the Tv ratings on the radio then having a look online.
Channel 7 top rating show for a decade,MKR.Is rating around 400,000 an episode. That puts it around No 17 on the ratings charts. With the major news services and married at first sight rating over 1 million per episode.Goodbuy MKR.

That’s a huge list Jack. You watch way too much television.

I don’t have the patience to watch TV series these days but when I first got Foxtel I got hooked on The Sopranos long after it ran on TV though didn’t see the first series I don’t think and missed the finale due to some recording clash.

Another one I have watched on Stan twice is Deadwood long after it was on TV. Unfortunately it only lasted 3 seasons due to falling ratings and ultra expensive cost of the set. I believe they’ve made or a movie but one of stars has since passed away so he would be impossible to replace. Absolutely brilliant series.

Back in the day some rippers like :
No 96
Kingswood Country
The Sullivan’s
Star Trek

Minder
All Creatures Great and Small
Some Mothers do Hav’em
To The Manor Born

Turn it up, DD - mine is over 50 years worth.

Hey Hey it’s Saturday probably has to be in the discussion.
Don Lane Show
Graham Kennedy late night show.
Blankety Blanks.
Welcome Back Kotter

I liked “Til death do we Part” with Alf Garnett.. Probably never to be replayed due to Political Correctness. Was priceless..
Black Adder & Roadrunner were good

A couple of good ones there DD, I had forgotten Welcome Back Kotter that was a ripper back in the day.
That late night news show Graham Kennedy did in the late 80s Coast To Coast with Ken Sutcliffe/John Mangos from memory as the straight guy was another funny show.

Not many of those over 30 years old.. DD has the older classics.

Yeh it was a beauty and one of my favourite songs. Was that song written for the show or a song they borrowed?

You could make a list of 10 shows alone on afternoon (after school) shows.

Welcome Back Kotter
Happy Days
The Brady Bunch
Bewitched
I Dream of Genie
Get Smart
The Beverly Hill Billies
Hogan’s Hero’s
Dr Who
Marine Boy
McHales Navy
Gilligans Island
Looney Tunes (bit like Ozfooty sometimes)

I’m sure there’s more…

Yes the PC brigade would be having kittens over Alf Garnett on Til Death Do Us Part these days.
He was a big West Ham fan was ol Alf

8 out of the 20 are 1990 or before, including 6 from the 70s.

Yes the bloody bbc would never do fawlty towers these days – although basil never wins on any show. The closest he came was in that episode with the silly deaf woman and dragon fly.

They still aren’t as classical as your modern list. Love to know which 6 come from the 1970’s.
Norman Gunston, I Claudius, Fawlty Towers & Minder are from the 1970’s.

I’m not sure where you are coming from, LS.

I said nothing about “classical” in my OP. My list covers every decade from the 70s onwards.

You, for some reason, then set the bar at 1990, and I responded with 8, 5 of which were from the 70s (not 6 as I originally stated).

It’s a list, not a bloody competition.
