The Road to 2026

A good start with Charlie Constable, Blake Schlensog, Aaron Clarke and Brandan Parfitt all signed on for 2026, first 3 signed on to 2027. Recruiting quality new talent should be a lot easier now!!

The first 3, will have their points halved for 2027.

Our points and Salary Cap will reduce, and we have already picked up a 10-point player in Glass-McCasker. So we need to find some cheap guns like Paton. Priority a big bodied nasty brute of a midfielder, with the first task of running through (legally of course) the likes of Bolton. Fortunately, at long last we have the Football Dept capable of doing it.

Great news need to lock away Paton, Wills, Derksen, Johnno, Edwards, Jaques all imports. Senior players Byrner, Davis, Taylor, Regan Clarke, Sing.

I raised it with Doddy pre season if he reached out to Luke English. Said he’d made a decision to play country footy this year but will revisit the possibility of next year. He would be a 1 point player. Still only 25.

Can’t see Simpson going on so 7 points there. Randall was 7 also I think. Charlie is 7 points, Aaron Clarke and Schlensog 5 each. Paton 2, Derksen 2.

Jared Bell interview this morning.

Constable 10 this year, Parfitt 12.
According to the rules I read points halve after 3 years.

I beg your pardon, you are correct with the points.
Glass- McCasker 10.

This points problem shouldn’t even have to be a consideration madness that WA Footy would ever penalise Perth after 40 years of struggling.
Until they change the zones and level the playing field should be open slather.
WA Footy needs a strong Perth Demons to stay relevant and boost the competition any hurdles to this is shooting themselves in their feet keep supporting them and WA Footy will be much better off.

Perth hardly got penalised they got hit with a wet lettuce for cheating.

One thing Perth FC never do is knowingly cheat.
They may make mistakes, then again they are human.
Be very careful throwing stones.
And be thankful Cicco is no longer carrying paper bags.
Although your last recruiting drive begs the question.

Perth 2026 could well see 10-15% (Strength, Fitness, Football Nous, Skill, Speed) improvement in each of the following 20 young players.

McClean, Wills, Cachard, Watson, Moore, Phillip, Hine-Baston, Poole, Luers, Jarques, Evans, Roberts, Edwards, McTaggart, Evans #2, Cameron, Paton, Fleiner, Preston-Coates and Scobes. (Put both rucks in here even though not as young as the rest)

These Very Good 11 players should be able to maintain their standard:

Parff, Chook, Byrne, Aussie, Schlenna, A. Clarke, Sing, Taylor, Jonno, Glass-McCasker, R. Clarke (with the last 3 playing a shit load more than 2025).

Hopefully get a little more out of Bodle, BH, Gray, Q and Hill who are not stars or young but still there abouts

It frustrates me that Brodie McLean is still waiting to have his knee reconstruction 6 weeks after the Swans game when he did it. Do WAFL clubs not cover their players with hospital cover? I understand that would be a massive policy premium but this money should come from the highest level who takes it talent from. Yes that’s you, AFL.

So I can’t see Brodie being available next year unfortunately.

Gee TFAF, can’t think of too many WAFL clubs with 20 or so youngsters coming through all at once…80% of those, look like Perth zoned lads…seems like Perth zones look pretty healthy…

Jog on back to your secret societies over on BF and FB troll :troll:

TFAF, good to see Perth are finally getting some reward from their zones…by reward I mean, Perth keeping those youngsters good enough for the WAFL , without losing them to the AFL…so hard to do these days with so many drafts…probably will only get harder when Tassie joins the AFL clan.

Is Derksen playing on next season? Was a dash of bad luck losing him through injury in the back half of the qualifying rounds.

He indicated on Sport FM he wanted to continue on next year. I imagine he might be in the next group of announcements.

I was a bit harsh on Derksen. I didn’t think he had enough mongrel in him, but after hearing that he played on fro about 10 weeks with a broken wrist I take it back and look forward to seeing how he goes next year.

I think you were wrong TFAF.
He looked very good IMHO, can take an overhead mark and snapped some snazzy goals.
If he completes a full season, I reckon he is worth 30 - 40 goals.
At 193cms I thought he was quite agile and had good skills.
I thought he competed a lot better than some of our other options.
