Australian batter Usman Khawaja has sensationally slammed the pitch his side was presented with on the first day of The Ashes at Optus Stadium as a “piece of s..t”.
The veteran opener’s harsh assessment comes despite the surface receiving the highest possible rating from the International Cricket Council and Khawaja — who battled back problems throughout the game — facing only six deliveries over the course of the contest.

Such an unedifying comment from the usually statesman like Khawaja - that’d be his description of himself I’m sure.
The guy’s a sook. The Optus pitch was a ripper, maybe if he spent some time out in the middle during the test instead of in the sick bay he would have had a chance to see that.

Perhaps if we take our parochial hats off, we might be able to recognise that Ussie could have a point. On Day 1, 19 wickets fell. The first time so many wickets have fallen in a single day since 1921. Class batsmen who have made centuries all over the world were reduced to looking incompetent on Day 1. You can’t just simply put that down to bad batting and good bowling. 17 wickets fell on day 1 last year before the pitch settled down on Day 2. Test cricket pitches are meant to be prepared for a 4 or 5 day contest. This one was a long way from that and I am totally confused by the ICC rating. If 19 wickets fell on Day 1 on an Indian dustbowl would that have got a top rating as well?

Khawaja is a piece of shit full stop. It’s probably the most rude disrespectful thing that’s ever been directed at any ground and we’ve seen some absolute shockers at the MCG and the SCG in days gone by.
Last time I checked first class cricket was played on turf not asphalt or concrete with carpet on it. Turf is meant to have variable bounce and have different characteristics from day 1 to day 5.
Some of these eastern states pricks just don’t like playing in Perth, period. So they come here with a negative mindset. Khawaja should never step foot in Perth ever again. He deserves to be heckled and treated with hostility. Don’t give me the calm the farm talk like the Prime Minister likes to do to downplay everything.

Chill out guys. With 6000 test runs, 16 test centuries and an average of 43, he has every right to have an opinion on a test wicket. All that hate being directed at him by that shit rag the West Australian is completely unjustified and totally lacking respect. BH I wouldn’t call scoring a double ton on the subcontinent not firing a shot mate…and that was done back in Feb this year…yeah that’s probably the last shot he has fired…but not a bad one…as mikeh says, he has been a good servant for Aust cricket…got a fantastic record nonetheless…can understand folk having a crack at him, but atleast show us your batting records first, to see if your opinion means anything, especially if you are dishing out the personal insults

The dickhead has been issued with a please explain by Cricket Australia and could face sanctions. He should charged for bringing the game into disrepute.
And I haven’t heard Starc come out and say this man of the match award should go to the wicket curator. My ten wickets was nothing to do with great bowling but a shite pitch.
