I’m not sure that Chaplin would be a walk up start for the league side. His role in 2024 was a tall forward and back up ruckman. He was handy without being outstanding. If Derksen stays then that’s Schlensog, A.Clarke, Paton and Derksen all playing as forwards, hopefully with some smalls like Hill or Moore or McClean.
Basically it would come down to Derksen or Chaplin. It’s only October so a long way to go yet.
I agree Cess.
Gray and Q pushed out to the exit door.
Well you called Gray along time ago R&B, I liked him, but I guess Stone and Dodd don’t see his future at the club. I am surprised about Q too. All the best to them
It’s the cleanout we had to have TF that this club hasn’t seen for decades. I’m used to seeing our good young players leave to go to other clubs and we hold onto the deadwood. No more. Sometimes less is more.
Some people on here have been critical of Daniel Hill, well who were EF most worried about around the stoppages in the 3rd and 4th qtrs in the elimination final? Because of his pace and ability to create and score or create scoring opportunities.
Good luck to those lads who gave their all for the red and black jumper. They had a crack but weren’t quite up to it unfortunately. This list will continue to evolve. I’m excited to see what’s next.
It’s all about the next generation coming through.
Kemp off the list.
Interesting - he didn’t even get a #99. Also noticed that the Evans with connections to WC is no longer on our list.
He’s moved to No 48 and Cooper Moore No 46
That’s Jack, who played quite well in the league after Hine Baston going down. I’m talking about Koby though. Injured for most of the year but played League for us v Peel late in the season.
Koby is on the colts list. I doubt WC will pick him after playing so little football.
Gee you’re good. I didn’t check the colts list. He was on the senior list for a bit and played pretty well against Peel. A good preseason and injury free he would be very handy for us. The West has him getting picked up though. Find out by the 20th November when the draft finishes.
Perth Demon lads … how has Oscar been going? I had him as a year 11/12 and showed good signs. Wasn’t sure he would make it at WAFL level but the boy certainly had drive to want to get better constantly. Was a pleasure to coach that’s for sure!
I assume you mean Oscar Hine-Baston viper?
I had my doubts in 2024 while people were pumping him up but Mark Stone seems to have had a big impact along with backs coach Ash McGrath.
Had an outstanding 2025 and won me over. Sustained a bad ankle injury second time we played Swans early in the first qtr and didn’t play another game. In our best 22 now.
I’d say Jed Kemp is off the list, as opposed to a 99- which seems to be a signal to other clubs they’re done- because Kemp won’t be a 1 pointer. They’ll be freeing up his points. I know he played at West Coast- was he from Subiaco originally?
I wouldn’t mind EF getting back Quartermaine- he’s worth a look
Kemp fell out of favour to the likes of Paton, Hill and Moore. Yes originally from Subiaco colts. Was 3 points. Played 17 league games for WCER. Played 42 league games now so would cost higher points.
If someone can help Harry overcome his jitters in front of the goals from set shots he is worth another chance. I think he would dominate ammos or country. Harry has played 29 league games I don’t think he played colts at EF that’s why he ended up at Perth. Would cost you points I think.
Yep that’s who I meant RnB, a ripping young man who as a year 11 was ok, had some great games as a year 12 and showed some real good glimpses.
It’s awesome to see him getting a league berth and still working on his craft.
Another in a similar vein is Garrison Kenh. Both players have been moved to half back and just blossomed. Oscar was a forward for me and played up high around the ball. Garry was always played as an inside mid. Now both boys are half backs and their football has taken off. Great to see.
As at 14/10, i am happy to see Derksen still on the list.
Someone suggested he had only signed a 1 year contract.
I was under the impression that 2 year contracts were the norm.
Anyway happy to see him still on the list and i hope he stays there.
With Chaplin returning and Glass McKasker’s signing late in the year our tall stocks are looking healthy for a change.
On another note, i have never been a huge fan of Kane Johnston, but i was impressed with his form when he returned late in the year. He is developing nicely.
It seems Jack Poole is off the list. Shame, but no surprise given his struggles with concussion.
Mark Stone spoke highly of Johnston in an interview early this year. I rewatched the elimination final on Saturday and Jonno was ok - but his disposal needs some work. That said he may have found the pace a little quick as it was only his 4th or 5th game for the year. Yes a shame about Jack Poole. Could take a mighty leap. We may have lost another good one here - similar to McPartland a few years ago. Though i have seen McPartland doing well in the Ammo’s and if the main problem with Jack is his neck and not concussion - we may see him again. These 190cm tall locals don’t grow on trees.
As a quick side, anyone know why Singa is in a Moon boot and how serious it is?
I did a search through the second round of matches in the NTFL League in the Northern Territory and didn’t see Derksen or Parfitt mentioned. Both played there last off season. Hopefully a sign both have jobs here and dedicating themselves to preparing for a full pre season with us.
Both arrived very late just on the eve of the season in their first season at the club. I think Parfitt took on Stubbs old role as indigenous liaison officer after Stubbs departure. Not sure if that’s a full-time role.
