List changes for 2026

The first one to fall No 12 Sam Simpson. No surprise to anyone. We can only imagine how much further we could have gone with a fit Sam Simpson.

Expect many more to be culled. A lot of this years colts doubling up some of the numbers on the list. We now wait to see what/who is added. We need to replace Simpson, not what we lost but what he was recruited for, to be an A grade ex AFL player.

Can also include Randall in that space, we recruited him to be that experienced big bodied midfielder.

Dellamarta moved to 99 on the list. I agree we need to recruit for midfielders as our #1 recruiting priority. After that, I’d argue for a genuine goal-kicking half-forward.

Loch Paton is that. I thought Tyrone Thorne would be a regular small forward with a few spells in the midfield but training seems to be his problem. Robert Warrell will be one to watch.

No problem with having two good half forwards. I’d suggest we need a half back with a penetrating kick, too. Neither grow on trees. I’ve been happy to see so many guys come through from the colts in recent times. Maybe we can grow a couple inside our own walls. Worrell developing would be very nice.

I’ll be interested in the development of Warrell.
He was very good at Colts level, but he has a lot of development to do before he becomes a regular.
But it could be exciting see he come through.
As far as the half back is concerned, didn’t Davis play more of that role later in the year?

Hine Baston, Phillips and Taylor were the main half backs this year. I saw Warrell (who had big wraps in 2024 - not 2025) play the last game of Colts v Subi this year, he didn’t look particularly good to me.

Well Doddy is off to a flyer if this is a confirmed in for 2026. Joseph Chaplin No 59 and 19 year old Tye Kemp from Peel (Brookton Pingelly area). 196 cm averages big numbers in disposals and hit outs in colts.

Kemp will be 1 point hasn’t played league and Joey I think was only a 3 point player before. Might have to find a 2024 budget. Massive gets in my opinion. Actually Kemp’s stats are from 2024 not showing any reserves or league games so maybe played country footy last year.

He played for Peel in the Peel football league. Played 25 games, 7 of them colts, got 9 best player and played in the country championships including the GF. Doddy might have found a beauty here.

I see a William Jenkinson from Claremont on the list too R&B, (190cm 18years)

Yes saw him last week stats unflattering but we’ll see. I liked the look of the kid from Swans in the last game. Stocky built lefty. Judd Cheshire.

I hope Tye can get a place to stay close to training.

I reckon the club should ask the Centurian’s managers to consider buying an apartment or house nearby, to house players. This wouldn’t have to come off player payments. Maybe they could put up $300K and we could have a whip round for another approx $400K required.

Must have some talent- made the Colts Team of the Year in 2024.

Nearly impossible for local ruckman to make it at Peel

Joey Chaplin was a 1 point player for us in 2024. If we keep all our big man stocks including Edwards, Jaques, Glass-McCasker then we are looking sweet even if Scoble gets drafted. I hope they re-sign Derksen too.

Now focus on adding grunt to the midfield.

Tye Kemp could be a Reuben McGuire type.

People have talked about Warrell, but are there any other league ready Colts coming through? Dellamata now off our list. I liked him as a player and person - just couldn’t get his body right.

Fantastic news with Chaplin coming back to the Club.
First time ever that has happened with ES player.
I hope that Derksen will be there with him.
Like the sound of the young ruckman too.
Still young but adds depth to our ruck stocks.
Well done Brad Dodd, not sitting on our hands but looking to improve.

TFAF, I though the Club at one stage was renting a house across the road in Bishopgate St. Not sure if they still do.

Yep, reckon that was the case, not sure if it still is. Sam Stubbs and bro lived there at one stage.

Has there been any confirmation on Derksen for 2026?

I don’t think so.

Hopefully he was signed for longer than 1 year.
He kicked 21 goals from 13 games, some of them gems.

He only signed for 1 but when interviewed after his last game where he kicked 4 he was asked if he wanted to extend his contract and sounded quite enthusiastic about it.
