No chance of a return about July/August?

I am not sure how long ACL’s take now days. For a long time it was 12 months but I think it has sped up. August would be a bit of a waste but yes July and deep finals would be worth it - even if only Ressies

Pre-Season could be interesting for starters!

Still hadn’t had surgery when we lost to Claremont. On a public waiting list.

Lovely,…Of course,if any AFL player had the same issue, there’d be very little waiting,…

Not having a go at those boys, but if the WA Health System can fast track things for them,…

With the addition of Dean, I don’t recall our big man stocks ever being so high - Dean, Johnston, Schlensog, JGM, Edwards, Jacques, Kemp, Clarke, Chaplin. Even Constable is 192cm. For mine, Johnston and Dean appeal as the key backs. They may be looking at Scoble in a floating defender role, like Sinclair or Avery used to play. Maybe even as a tall winger. I can’t see Chaplin getting a game ahead of Derksen. With Clarke and Schlensog as tall forwards, I don’t know where this leaves JGM. Can we play three tall forwards? If so, I don’t think we can play two rucks - it would have to be Edwards, with Schlensog and JGM filling in as required.

I think Stone values Philip’s pace and he will be in the starting line up ahead of Roberts. I would think guys like John, JPC, BH, Fleiner, Bodle and Luers would only get a game if we had a seriously bad run of injury. TFAF, you named 18 players. I would take out Roberts, Chaplin and Jacques for Philip , Derksen and Edwards. Wills, Cachard and Kirk are in our best 23. That leaves one spot up for grabs - comes down Hill or Watson for mine.

Hopefully Derksen stays. He only signed for one season and haven’t seen him in any of the announcements about players recommitting. Have heard of a couple of reasons that might pull him away from Perth. Would be a loss for mine I don’t think we saw the absolute best of him. Maybe he’s just a burst player but Chaplin is a good replacement.

Here is my go at it.
We are going to have some very disappointed players.
So i hope we have good Counsellors.
Brayshaw is young so he is development, i think he is eligble for Colts. Maybe Ressies.
Kemp is also a development player.

I would suggest our Ressies maybe pretty strong.

FB: Sing, Dean, Hine-Baston

HB: Phillip, Scoble, Taylor

C: Kirk, Parfitt, Wills

FOLL: Edwards, Constable, Byrne

HF: Gardiner, Schlensog, Derksen

FF: Paton, Clarke, Moore

Int: R Clark?, Watson?, Chaplin, Glass-McCasker, Davis

I can’t recall this much depth.
Well not in recent decades.

1st of December boys a bit early for likely line ups. The boys only just started pre season training last week. Understand the excitement but let’s see when the pre season scratchies start.

Yes never been so blessed with talls of course ALL of them imports apart from Elijah Scoble at 193cm but I’m sure he is taller.

The mids brought in is interesting because let’s be honest, none of us ever heard of them so they are a bit of an unknown. I guess we show our faith in Brad Dodd’s knowledge and judgement.

I’m looking forward to a breakout year from Daniel Hill who I think stamped himself in a big game against EF in first final. Was a shame he was ill and missed the game against Claremont. Add to that Cachard, Hine-Baston, Philip, Wills, Paton, Scobes and Moore. All young guys with plenty of upside. I thought Zac Fleiner showed a bit against Claremont.

I like our two rucks. If both understand probably only one of them is getting a league game and the other will have to bide his time because we have plenty of guys like Schlenga and Glass-McCasker to support them and Chappy has done it before. Johnno is 197 and Preston-Coates the same but maybe going to be a bit harder for him to break into the team next year.

Then there’s the Salary Cap(albeit increased I hear),points Cap,Super,FBT on travel,….
We ARE keeping an eye on such things,…hopefully!

No room for Kane Johnston, DF?

We’re Spoilt for choice it seems!

I don’t understand why a WAFL player would be on a public waiting list? Surely they have insurance to cover it?

Mine was $20K but luckily insurance paid the lot.

Not now we have recruited Dean.
He’s an “A” grader.
Where would you have him?

R&B, Kirk and Gardiner are automatic selections.
Kirk won Sydney’s VFL F&B.
Gardiner looks a great get.
As I said there are going to be some very disappointed players at Lathlain.
Whilst we had a great season in 2025.
We need to improve the squad, our recruiting has done just that.
We haven’t recruited these guys to play reserves.

We are all part of the AFL system. They should have insurance to cover it.

The acquisition of Dean could release Johnno to be experimented with in a variety of positions. I know he likes playing forward but I’ve often thought of running him as a tall mid either on a wing or at the centre bounce to create a mismatch. Has the leg speed and agility to do it probably in bursts.

Who does he replace?
