I’m sure most West Coast supporters wouldn’t have dreamt they would be 2 and 1 after 3 rounds. Jobe Shanahan was huge again and Harley backed up last weeks performance. But the player I thought was starting to look like the Geelong version of himself last week was Tim Kelly and he played very well again today. Looks like he’s hunting the football for the first time since coming across to West Coast. Looks like he’s found the love for AFL football again.
Well done Eagles. Get your picks right and things can look up very quickly. Willem Duursma elite as is Duff-Tytler.
So exciting to watch a young talented team gaining confidence. Already have banked more wins than last season 3 weeks in! The coach was grinning like a Cheshire cat at the end of the game and who can blame him. They have definitely turned the corner. Still a long way to go but they are heading in the right direction.
Two great fightbacks today, one by the Eagles from 5 goals down and an even more amazing one from Melbourne who were 43 points behind Carlton early in the game but won by 23 points in a game that may well lead to the sacking of Michael Voss
Although I had written them off during the first quarter.
I’ve not been a huge fan of Harley, but I am converting. He has been very good and looks like he is enjoying being here. Hopefully that may lead to a long term stay.
I liked the look of Shanahan last year, but boy has he developed quickly.
Duursma and DT are genuine stars in the making, I’m looking forward to their development during the season.
Tim Kelly was the worst trade WCWE have ever made, but I agree, the last two games he has been excellent.
And I must mention Archer Reid, he looks like he is developing, took some good marks today.
Add the experienced players we have added and our rebuild is certainly on track.
Not sure we can make the 8 but I’m equally not sure we’ll be far away. Our first test against a good side did not go to plan, but we have another coming up over Easter I think.
think some of you blokes are very harsh on TK … he slowly found his feet and averaged nearly 30 a game in 2023 to win a John Worsfold medal and to be fair was still averaging above 20 in his first couple years of 21 and 22 (non covid). 24 he was still up there above 20 a game but people wanted his 30 a game and it was 2025 that he just lost it all due to the scrutiny of being a prize trade.
You don’t win an AFL FnB because you’re an average footballer.
First quarter was very hard to watch, but the rest was great. Being realistic, I understand that the two teams we beat probably won’t be finalists, but you’ve got to start somewhere. Trying to beat the Geelong and colliwobbles of the league may be a bridge too far atm, but these young blokes have no fear.
Eagles midfield depth being tested early into the season losing Murdock, now Yeo and Robertson suspended. Fin Macrea and Elijah Hewitt perhaps get their opportunity.
