Reports out of Claremont is that up to 20 league players have been hit by Covid, This weeks game may not go ahead if the WAFC deem that they haven’t got enough players to field a team.
Isn’t that why you have a reserves team? Use them or forfeit. Pretty simple.
They wont be fielding a reserves team this week.

The Reserves will fill the void in the League team and the Reserves will forfeit.

Yep, problem solvered
Pretty sure Cl will cope, especially with their history of playing finals footy year in and year out across all 3 grades…
Welcome to Subi’s world Claremont, we had to deal with 23 players unavailable off the list and managed to field 3 teams. Our Colts won, our reserves got absolutely flogged and the league, with 8 debutants and a bunch of reserves players covering for the 11 or so missing from last years GF team lost a close one to Souths, so suck it up princesses and get on with it.
The fact that the Su v SF had to proceed whatever, has set the precedent, so if the WAFC allow the CFC to postpone the fixture there should be an enquiry into why they get special treatment. If numbers get that short, they can forfeit the ressies to make up the league numbers. This is likely to happen to all teams, so any club that doesn’t have a contingency plan in place deserves no special treatment.

Agree SS the show must go on.

I’m taking a different view. If C genuinely can’t field 2 senior teams, the game should be postponed. It can be played on a bye week. However, if they have enough players overall, but are concerned about being competitive, then too bad, the game goes ahead.,
Last season Perth had up to 12 first 22 unavailable due to injury on several occasions. We did not complain. We just sucked it up and got on with playing.
and when Perth got most of them back, they still lost…not sure what your point is mate.

The point was quite clear. We did not ask for any game be played at a later date. It had nothing to do with whether or not we won games. Sure we lost almost every game and put that down to the teams we were able to put on the ground were just not good enough.
We are not asking for any special requests or being “princesses” as SS has labeled us. Simply awaiting clarification from the WAFC what they want to do. If they tell us the game goes ahead no problem.
This issue will impact every WAFL club at some stage this season. As well as Claremont, Peel will also be weakened this weekend due to the outbreak amongst some of the Dockers Squad.

they are two different issues.. perth may have had injuries that built up gradually but at least they had a leadership group and could adjust over a time period when these injuries occurred.looking at claremont’s list in the budget ryan lim is the only player over one hundred games and next best is 35 games so i suppose lim will be captain?only 17 tigers have league
experience.. as for subi they have 5 players over one hundred games experience with another 3 having fifty games or more.27 players have league experience with 10 having played less then 10 games.i suspect subi will romp it in and i always thought covid may affect wafl sometime this year.injuries are part of the game but this is the second game this year which will see covid deciding which is the better team.
Chaddy, 23 players were unavailable for the Souths game but we still managed to field the 3 grades. If Claremont mange to keep it to similar numbers then, like Subi for the Souths game, they will have to play otherwise some interesting questions would need to be asked. At the moment, to their credit they have said they are prepared to play, so no need to get the numpties at the WAFC involved.

maybe should read my post a bit carefully.i did say that this will be the second game to be decided by covid this year.this is a tricky issue.will we stay with the close contact rule till the end of season and maybe see teams lose a final or grand final because of covid protocols or .if the rules change during the season then some teams will be agrieved that it may have cost them games or percentage or a spot in the final.looks like this will be a compromised season.unlike 2020 were at least everyone were in the same rowboat.
All players should be ok if they stick to McGowan’s rules and not swim to the ground, go through a drive-in bottle shop on the way or dance when they get there. Oh…did I mention they’ll have to mask up in the change rooms before, during and after the game which could be a bugger in the showers?
Article in this mornings west online says Cl are without 16 players, leaving them with less than 44 fit on their senior list. Like Subi, they will need to bring up a few from their colts squad to play ressies.
Maybe I’m reading too much in to this but aren’t the selected teams for Saturday normally listed by 8pm on a Thursday night at the latest? Well as at 9.15pm the only teams that have been announced are the colts game between Swans and East Fremantle (and that encounter is on Sunday)? You could probably understand the clubs who are playing on Sunday delaying their selections. I’m starting to wonder whether some teams other than Claremont may be juggling some COVID issues. Then again it might just be a simple stuff up with the WAFL website which wouldn’t surprise.
