Each WAFL club will be stripped of one player for the wcer!
“West Coast will pay a $600,000 license fee to remain in the competition though the payment will not be tied to the dividend provided to WAFL clubs.”
So who gets the coin then?? So they take a player from each club but the clubs don’t get any of the license fee. Sounds fair
They are limited to recruiting 1 player from each team. It’s not that they get a free pick of someone from each. For example if they somehow convinced Aaron Black to come and play for them, they would be prevented from getting anyone else from WP. But would be free to look at other teams and get a maximum of 1 player from each.
In a year’s time, i’m sure all restrictions will be lifted after they whinge about losing to Subiaco in the GF
It’s my understanding that they can sign one player from each WAFL club who is outside that club’s protected 37. That would mean a fringe reserves player or similar. Then of course the player would need to agree to the move otherwise he wouldn’t sign I guess. I could be wrong but that’s my interpretation.
I don’t have a problem with them getting to pick up one player per WAFL club so long as it’s after a certain date say 1st Feb or later when all WAFL clubs should have their recruiting completed by then. But also there should be the same rules applied re transfer fees and a points cap.
could they also come from colts players - ones that may not make senior lists ?
I guess they could Southy but it may be they’re off limits as part of the WAFC player development set up…a good question though which needs answering as WAFL clubs wouldn’t want their best colts being pinched.

It probably should be uncontracted league/reserves players.
They pulled out and now they are back in for the next three years.
Can’t work this mob out. Guess who the coach is?
Mr R. Wiley
On the plus side… no byes and the odd celebrity game when a Shuey or Nic Nat makes a comeback and the wafl gets some media. West coast v subi last year was one of the better games of the season. Good attendance too.
Only thing JL is it might be Greg Clark instead of Shuey who tears us a new one when we play the ResToasters.
I have the same concern SS. Would he fit into WCE midfield if all their current guys were available? Probably not I’d say as he’d be behind Shuey, Yeo, Kelly, Gaff, Sheed, Redden, Petrevski-Seton and maybe Connor West. Plus I still have nightmares about Josh Deluca. Leading the Sandover when taken midseason by Carlton only to play a handful of senior games, spend most of his time in the VFL and never to come back to Subi. That won’t happen to Clark you wouldn’t think but I reckon we’ll see a fair bit of him at WAFL level unfortunately.
Who can forget the late Shane Yarran kicking goals for Peel in the first Peel v Subi grand finals. That hurt.
Deluca played against us too, I recall.
BC, a fit and in form Clark would, imho, be way ahead of guys like Sheed, and Conner West, he’s far more versatile and far more physical and will be moreso after an AFL pre-season that will be even more intense than a Subi pre-season.

Way ahead of Sheed? That’s a big call SS.
Anyway, there’s 17 other clubs that may draft Clark so all this talk of him playing WC reserves is quite premature.
Joyce and Strnadica invited to train with WC? Ouch! Be a few nervous EF boys on here.

FCKU!!! No, double FCKU. They’ll just keep them as list fillers. I could start to get pissed off with the Eagles at this rate.
My guess is it’s just a sneaky way to bolster their reserves squad. Probably looking to rookie list or pre-season list these guys, but they will play WCER. A way of getting around the WCER recruiting limits and 1 player per WAFL club rule.
This mob will sink to whatever unethical depths they see fit to get what they want.

If that’s true, then the system certainly is FCKD. For cripes sake, the AFL has raped our club (arguably) more than any other WA club. When is enough, enough? But because I’m a very loyal person, I’ll keep following the Eagles.
