Has already been drafted by the Tasmanian Devels.And will be playing for Tasmania in the VFL 2027.
G Walsh hasn’t been drafted, Tasmania can select him as part of their set up concessions to play for them in the VFL but he can say no and stay at EP until he is 18!

Walsh showed a great amount of composure and maturity during that frantic finish last week
Hope he gets an opportunity to showcase his talent in a WAFL grand final next sunday, potentially against Sean Darcy

Grump, at 17 years age, I think Walsh would probably benefit from staying at home and have a year in the WAFL surrounded by his family and friends.
Also the chance of perhaps playing in the League side with his brother (if Xavier comes home), could be a big lure.
I hope someone from the Club has a real heart to heart with Axel before he makes his decision.

We won’t know about Darcy until probably Sunday,but he’s a potential non starter with bung knee.

West Perth close to causing an upset in the reserves. They finished 5th on the ladder and are on the verge of making the Grand Final. Would be great for the club if they could make it. One small shaft of light in a dark season. If they do win, it will mean there will be 6 clubs with an interest in Grand final day! Even though East Perth will be on the wrong end of this result it may be a good omen for their league team as they also finished 5th

Yeah Im amazed. After watching the 2nd semi which was a high quality affair, I was convinced that East Perth would be back for another go at Swans
Obviously West Perth are flying at the right end of the season and the Swannies need to be at their best.
Also great to see the bottom 3 clubs from 2026 having some involvement on GF day, Sharks in the Colts and odds on to win a flag
It only works because they play on the same weekend - they also get automatic qualification status
There is no way in hell I would have agreed to that clause particularly given this season as example

It’s more a pre -selection than a drafting… Tassie can choose up to 8 x 17 yr olds in 2026, and another 8 in 2027…capping at 12 in total over the 2 years…apparently on a basic contract @ 150 K per year…over 4 years…Can’t think of too many 17 yr olds turning that down to stay with mum n dad…pretty sure EP won’t be paying the kid anywhere near that.
Walsh is going to end up at Tassie regardless, and going to have move at some point…he will play VFL instead of WAFL if he goes next year…there is also Artemis from EF in the mix, as well…150K, surely if selected will go.
At last something for true WAFL diehards to get excited about GF Day ..A Derby WAFL Colts GF,Forget the Peel Dockers League BS.
Bazza might need a chaperone on GF day do they have early openers near the Freo train station? Then a couple of hours at the Camfield chewing the fat with Budgie, a few at Optus and maybe finish with a pub crawl in the city afterwards or Freo.
