Not much on here abt the Royals, many a picking them for another GF appearance. It will be interesting to see ho they cope if they have a raft of injuries given the loss of some talented players, but recruitment has been ok.
We have never had such a great deal of depth. Craven looks set to role between fwd and mid and according to a few of the boys, has become quite strong for his size. Stephens is like a bull in a china shop ready to go, foley is a gun who may release one of our defenders elsewhere if need be and freitag is a big mobile unit. Then you add several reserves boys coming through from our flag team and the fact we lost nobody from our GF team, whilst I respect the other teams, i honestly believe we will win it this year. SF, Perth will be our main comp plus maybe tigers and it kills me to say, Peel.
All in all, i think it will be a very even year and hope everyone supports their wafl club as much as possible
Depends if both Freo’s Teams are in the Finals and in the event of Injury issues, well, who the Obvious Priority is!
Normally id agree but peel themselves have recruited heavily so they will be thereabouts regardless of freo which concerns me
Well then,I guess they’ll fill most of Peel’s 12 spots throughout the Home and Away Season, which should mean more departures of locals, who can’t get a look in.
I wouldn’t count on getting too many at Perth if that happens. Ex-Peelers don’t seem to want to stay there long.
On the other hand, the Royals have had a good run with them. Except for 1 of course, who I won’t name.
Yeah,we know 'im too.
Oh well,if he’s happy to run around the Peel Footy League grounds,so be it,but he hasn’t properly realised his talents, fully.
As for others, there’s 8 other WAFL Clubs to choose from,so I guess we won’t get a lock on too many anyway.
Stephens,Foley and the returning Darcy Craven will only make us stronger. The interesting one for me is the 200cm ruckman forward recruit Damon Freitag from the SANFL.He’s either a lumbering log or maybe someone who can take a big forward line pack mark, and if he’s the latter,it could be a coaching headache to squeeze Middleton,Schofield,Medhat,Graham and possibly Sebit, all in the same forward line.
EP surely will be playing in another GF…3rd time lucky for you boys hopefully…
Perfect scenario for myself would be, we break the drought this year and Ill say it again, Im confident we will and then 2027 - Perth go on and break their drought. Not interested in hearing about our previous eagles alignment crap as that killed me, but the seeing the likes of East Perth, Perth and even swans win flags is always great for the comp. I know people will talk about the average crowd in last years GF but regardless, when ourselves and the likes of Perth and Swans are up and about, the interest grows.
Not sure about Swannies this year, but Perth and East Perth right at the top at the business end of the year,is great for WAFL Footy!
I think since we left Perth Oval, our support base has steadily declined,3 of the 4 grand finals we played between’96 and 2002 drew 30000.
Are you on air Larry Bird, did the
the great white hope Freitag do anything today??or is there feedback from any other Royal who attended the scratchy today.
They’ve finally put up the stats on WAFL site where it shows he kicked 2,although there’s no other stats.
Probably a bit off topic. Good to hear league coach Mcqueen apparently put pen to paper and signed a two year contract extension. A good move.
Has Raykos left??
Still on the list according to the clubs page
What gave you that impression?
Saw Tedesco at WP v EP scratchy. He is injured. Will not be playing for at least 6 weeks. Don’t know about Raykos. He does have a history of Asthmatic type illness, so maybe has called it quits (or taking time out) due to health, like he did in 2024.
I quite sympathise.
The Humidity has been terrible the past couple of weeks in particular.
Bl**dy Summer won’t P*ss Off!
