Worst poxy survey

Maybe, but at least I can hold a general discussion about FOOTBALL not just the WAFL or AFL.
As I said you didn’t fill out the survey so no grounds to complain.

I can’t believe some of these neatherdals have such little Idea of what is going on around them, what 1970’s cave are they living in?

The fact that most people (the footy public or as you call them AFL followers) know nothing about WAFL - I agree with, but swan what does that tell us, the first priority for most people in this state is the eagles or dockers, surely you can accept that, most punters dont rush down to bassendean or fremantle oval to watch training or down the shops to read the wafl results in the paper or watch the news for the ins and outs for south freo on friday night or read the subi stats in the sundays times anymore, they want info on the eagles and dockers, sad fact but true, its not 1980 anymore and clock will not turn back.

Bazza I don’t think any WAFL supporter believes we will return to the halcyon days of the 1980s. However, what most of us believe is that the WAFL can remain as a viable competition if it is supported by the WAFC and the AFL. What we believe is that contrary to helping the WAFL there are active members of the WAFC, AFL and media who are doing the exact opposite.

If you saw the Dorrington interview it is patently clear that he and his cronies in the WAFC have no interest in supporting the WAFL. They are completely subordinate to their masters in the AFL.

Swan I agree 100% percent with you there is no doubt the WAFC and AFL have no interest in the WAFL…And I agree with you 100% on Dorrington, mate I am on the same page as you …what I am saying is the vast majority of people have far different prioroties to us, the WAFL means Nada to them, the WAFC reflect the community sentiments, the money and media go with market and the market is not WAFL…mate the ABC last figures shows thet out of a statewide pouplation of over 2 Million only 20,000 tune into WAFL on ABC each week now. Yet AFL ratings on Fox and 7 are already up 13% this year…these are the realities some on here need to grasp, You can moan all you want about the Survey but it cant stop a tidal wave.

what delusional miopic universe do you live in??? so you think a football survey should ingore AFL despite the fact that 40,000 turn up to watch the eagles and dockers and about 5000 people turn up to watch 4 WAFL games each week.

Hey Chris/Mr Negative/Bazza surely if it was a FAIR DINKUM football survey it would have included questions on all aspects/levels of football like S42 suggested not just the over hyped AFL by a paper with a vested interest in it ie 7/West sponsors both WCE & Freo & 7 telecast it! Quite obviously it has not done that so hence it gets the brickbats it deserves!
[/quote]

What are you on about - it had WAFL questions…

What do you mean over hyped??? they respond to the market and the demand, how many people read articles on WAFL anymore???

where is all the public hype for WAFL - show me the evidence…and not just the fantasy in your head.

fair dinkum have you any clues at all???

I would have liked to have filled out the survey but I didn’t see it advertised. I only read the West on Sat morning for the final teams.

There is better WAFL information to read here on this site so I don’t read the West on most days.

It was well advertised on the Westonline , surely you visit that for some news from time to time…

I have it favourited to the WAFL section for the results/best players. Didn’t see anything about a survey.

Poor old Chris ..you having a bad day champ?
You are obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed as can be seen by your daily internet drivel but if you cannot see that the AFL is over hyped by the electronic & print media because they have a vested interest in it eg ratings, selling newspapers, internet hits etc when it is nowhere near as good a standard of the 80’s & 90’s football then you are even more thicker than I thought previously!

Your clearly the biggest tool in the shed that is for certain.

My first exposure to VFL/AFL football was on the Winners on the ABC in the 1970’s.

To be truthful, AFL footy is lame now in comparison.

I know some will say that the WAFL isn’t as good either but the WAFL has been decimated by the draft.

On the other hand the AFL has gained the benefit of the draft, the big money, full time training/coaching and state of the art facilities, yet it too isn’t as good.

A lot of the people who seem to have an interest in the AFL might not remember how good it used to be in the 1970’s and 1980’s. It’s ordinary now.

Couldnt agree more with all of the above mate ..its funny how fox footy (a channel dedicated to 24/7 footy) rarely if ever shows games from the 80’s/90’s anymore could it be they & the AFL do not want the gullible viewing public of today to see that they are nowadays watching an inferior product???

Maybe yeah. It’s almost unrecognisable now as compared to then. I fear for the day when the game resembles Gaelic Footy more than Australian Footy. I hope it never happens but it seems to be heading that way by design.

I just wish our very own WAFC would put their foot down & not agree to some of these incredibly soft pedantic rules Bartlett & Co from the AFL gravy train bring in year after year ..I know I would much rather watch a physical contest ..but unfortunately there is Buckley’s chance of that! :frowning:

I have read and laughed a little but the difference between then and now for both the WAFL and AFL is, one is a huge business in the entertainment field played for the sponsors to get to the viewers and the other was essentially a sport played for the fans and not the sponsors, whilst the other is a very medium business that is like so many parts manufacturing businesses, reduced to supporting ford or GMH (closest comparison) I could come up with!

The trouble for many is not understanding the change and accepting that their beloved club only exists as a link in the chain between a 10 year old and the draft and as mercenary as that sounds … .

The other problem for AFL supporters is that they don’t even see that link, often but not always.

Just my twopennith worth!

The WAFL began dieing when the WCEs became a team. The soul and heart was ripped out of the WAFL then.It seems that only now have some awoken from their slumber and realised that the WAFL is close to being buried.

It was overdue for a negative post about the WAFL from either anchor or Bazza ..I mean it had been a whole 3 hours since the last!!
If you are happy with your lot of watching garbage AFL games like that rubbish served up yet again today then stick to that & leave the WAFL you long ago abandened to those of us who are passionate about real tribal suburban footy!

it is a pity that you didn’t actually write some thing in regards to what the topic is rather than sit back like a sewer rat and snipe all the time.
AKA and I have at last got on to the same page  .
But the white coats can’t be all that far away for you BH. But continue to snipe and take pot shots it suits your personality.

You & Chris have a bit more in common such as long ago abandoning the WAFL & South Freo for the luxury of the computer!!
