Worst poxy survey

How good was the poxy WA (afl) footy survey in the worst (Saturday) pfffft. About 66% favoured the alignment & 33% against it, almost exactly the same figures (in reverse) as how many go to WAFL games - 33% go & 66% dont go, but more interesting was that 11% dont support a WAFL team which comes in equal 4th spot with the ferals (behind sd,sf & joondy in that order)…what a load of crap…

I would take it with a grain of salt. A media outlet more interested in their AFL ties and circulation than running a proper poll amongst WAFL supporters. It is obvious if they held a poll it would contain many more AFL supporters than WAFL supporters because of the imbalance of the supporter bases.
Now surely they should have had the poll amongst the WAFL die hards as these are the people who matter and support our Once great Grass roots game not the AFL Lemmings who are brainwashed by the AFL media in a game staged for TV and the mass of brainwashed who know no better. Days of our lives and the Young and Restless had huge followings and went for many many years. The comparison is similar.
Back to the Drawing board West and lets not just CATER to the AFL hordes

When a bloke who live’s & breathe’s footy like myself doesnt even fill in or read crap like that, that should tell you something …that sort of garbage survey is only for the anchors of this world!!

They want to survey us who go every week as we pass through the turnstiles

Mate I dont think they are interested in what real football supporters like us think ..just the anchor types who follow the AFL only from their computer!!

Yep too true!

Maybe if you whingers had taken time out to fill out the survey thing may have looked different. But it is all too easy to leave and then have a weep and moan about after the event. It is time you lot grew up and understood that unfortunately the majority of people don’t follow the WAFL.They follow he AFL.Like it or not it is the truth.
Yet again people are telling me something about myself that even I didn’t know. Let me tell SD and BH you should be out with your crystal balls and making a fortune at the Midland markets every weekend. You know it all.Key board heroes who have nothing to do but bloody whinge.
All you had to do was log on line and do the survey boys,a simple thing to do even for you guys.
So BH if you don’t follow the WAFL as closely as you that mean we don’t live and breathe football.!!!Time to come out of the time warp and see the roses.
I have probably seen more and will see more football that you will ever see.I was almost an old man when you started watching the game.Trouble is you got your head stuck so far up your clackers that you can’t see they sun shine.

Didnt take long to wake the AFL loonies out of hibernation!
Anchor you have NO IDEA how many games of footy I see LIVE over a weekend & have done for 33 seasons which would probably surpase whatever you have seen LIVE in your 70+ years!!

The loonies were here way before me BH. As you should well know.
But what ever Bh as you know it all.your crystals balls must be real shiny now.

Soon as i read 9% of people thought Subi was the best AFL ground, i knew the whole article was shyte

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I’m unclear of the survey as I never actually saw a copy but probably do not need to! Being contained in the mentioned publication which we must remember is owned and sourced by Eastern States interests who have no favour with the Wafl whatsoever. The same could be said of many of the WA radio stations and why, oh why are they broadcasting too much material from the eastern states, but that is another story.
The mentioned newspaper, which is supposed to be a west australian can report, show big sport stories, have in depth sport stories and everything else coming out of the eastern states. Yet local sports just down the raad, hardly receive a mention!?

although I am a 100 per cent WAFL person, I actually agree with anchorman here,I thought the survey was an accurate reflection of the true sentiments of the footy public in WA.

Anyone here that thinks that most people in WA care about the WAFL , before the two local afl clubs is totally out of touch delusional and living in the past, in fact in is quite hard to beleive just how out of touch some of you are n here.

Being around an Amateur club on a Saturday, i hardly hear anyone talk about Wafl its all AFL some of the older blokes may talk about it but its very rare.

So the results regarding the survey are hardly surprising, lets face it the young kids coming through aren’t interested in going to an empty stadium to watch Wafl i would go far as saying the only time the Wafl may enter their lives is if they get on a colts list.

I agree with you somewhat anchor, but not sure I’d have put it that strongly   But then a spade is a spade! I love my Sharks and the AFL has lost a lot of my interest over the alignment mess (imo). But facts is facts - a 66/33% split says it all. The survey isn’t really indicative of where we really are at. I’m quite surprised you people aren’t slagging the WCE because their supporters were the highest respondents…you guys are slipping  . I didn’t do the survey, as I was out of Aussie at the time, but as much as I hate to admit it, if they hold another in 5 yrs time it will probably be a 80/20 split - and so it will go.

That’s spot on mate, in my work place which has loads of staff , there would not be a single peron who talks WAFL , it’s all AFL.

I need to travel with my job and everywhere work takes me, I notice the Wafl is largely ignored by everyone. You turn on the damned tv, radio, open a newspaper, magazine or visit a news webpage and one has to spend a lot of time hunting for any Wafl coverage, if you can find any! Whereas most other sports are given headlines like status and being rammed down your bloody throat whilst being relentlessly driven by the media. I am not surprised of the young ones nowadays because they don’t know any different. Can the supposed footy commission and the main stream media start supporting and reporting on the Wafl more? Well yes they could. But do they wish to- it appears no they don’t.

Although… as I recall from the survey results only 11% of the sample said that they did NOT have a WAFL team. So that means 89% who follow the WAFL even if its just a quick check of the scores in the papers on monday! Surely some reason for hope here? Maybe the product needs to be marketed better and differentiated from the AFL somewhat. I’m sure there is some guru out there who could do a good job.
Differences I can think of:

  1. have a kick on the oval with the kids
  2. Listen to the coaches
  3. have a chat with the players
  4. Sit anywhere on the ground
  5. Banter with opposition supporters
  6. Enjoy a beer with your mates after the game and watch the presentations

I’m sure there’s more, we don’t have to trash AFL in order to promote the WAFL.

Must at admit was shocked 11 % had no club at all, in 20 yrs it will be 50 % , take a miracle to stop it

Did anyone hear brad hardie this arvo, saying word is the afl want 2 more clubs in by 2020, this years ratings are up 13 % , they don’t give a toss about attendances anymore it a all about TV viewing now.

The survey results that were in the West Saturday had nothing to do with the AFL.It was a West Australian(paper) survey. The AFL one has still not been published.
I have said before, if there is a survey that is about something that is near and dear to your heart, fill the bloody thing out.It is no good whinging about it after the results have been published.
AKA I have said as soon as the Fatman wanted the competition to be an 18 man comp that eventually he would want it to be 20.there will be two conferences or what ever you like to call it, in years to come. Two lots of ten sides. It is an inevitable happening. He even spoke a few years ago about another team from WA.
I don’t think any one wants the WAFL to fold or disappear, but again I see it as an inevitable thing.Maybe a lesser competition will be run.But the WAFL and other second tier competitions will get weaker and weaker.Maybe the colts type competition will take over from the WAFL,but will be run by the AFL.Which is sad.
But it is no good sticking our heads in the sand and saying these things wont happen, they will.

Shark I didn’t have a go at the Eagles being the number one team to vote because they got off their arses and did vote, unlike some here.
How else would you have put it Shark? As you say a spade is a bloody spade not a shovel. I know some don’t like it and I can see their reasoning but there was a survey they should have voted.Well done to the Eagles fans. But Subi as the best ground in the AFL!!!Gimme a break. They gotta get out more.
