Come on guys, no more of this high possession, high handball, bruise free, tackle free footy that you have been displaying at home. How about a bit of intensity, desperation, move the ball quickly by foot and hit your targets. Defend your home ground. Use your pace like you did last year. You were exciting to watch in 2012, not so in 2013.
Swans fans want to see you guys play to your potential and get into the finals.
Everyone knows that a loss to Perth on Saturday will dash any hopes of September no matter what the mathematical calculations. Victory will give us a boost for tough games against Claremont and East Perth and keep us in the mix
You can do so much better than you have so far this year, so show us your best!
We have barely fired a shot this year, its been as frustrating a season as I can remember mike ..and as for our form at home this year is there a word that means worse than abysmal???
Yeah probably more frustrating than 2011 BH because there were other factors that year ( Premiership hangover, new coach, Luke Adams issue etc). You look at them on paper and think that this looks a good team, much better than the opposition, but invariably they fall short, they have wasted so many of their possessions this year. They are not playing to their strengths like they did in 2012. I will still be there on Saturday though in the hope that they can turn it all around.
I hope the umpies are on song!!!

Judging from our 2 clashes already this year DF you blokes can expect a 5 goal head start from the likes of Parry, Worobec & co!!
The SD water boy u mention is a seriously qualified physio from Italy who has arrived in WA with his West Aussie wife to raise their kids and at the time of that 50mtr penalty had very little understanding of English let alone the rules of our great game. He’s a cracking bloke and to his credit he can raise a smile with regards to that day. Has some very interesting theories with regards to warm up and rehabilitation which I hope the club will listen to and take on board in future. Will be a great get for any WAFL club once he completes his English studies and the physio units he requires for his Italian qualifications to be recognised in Australia. Hope the club realise what they’ve got with this fella as he’s a very humble guy who we need to let speak about his ways before we lose him to something bigger and better.
As a side note if anyone has any footage of that 50mtr penalty would love to get hold of it to send the footage back to family in Italy :silly:

Dirty we love the guy!! I wanted to start humping his leg as he walked off the ground!
Maybe he should consider heading up to Joondalup with the garlic munchers
Dirty go back through the previous Perth V Swans thread when the game was played and there are some links to the footage that were posted by people on the thread.
Well I gotta say the real Swan Districts showed up today and so did the real Perth. We dominated the day like a training drill and I didn’t think we would have won by so much at the start of the day. Having said that there is still room for improvement in over use of the ball, but our intensity was so high today that entry into the forward line was like an avalanche that Perth had no answer to. Ryan Davis should get 5 votes for his effort and he lead the way in our aggression and intensity at the football. Too much talent all over the ground in the end and we will take it up to the Tigers next week if we can play like that more consistently
Would be fair to say that they stood up today! I walked out of Bassendean with a smile on my face for the first time this season. At last, 4 quarters of intense desperate football when our season was on the line.
You could see from the start that they were up for it. They scrapped with Perth in the first quarter when the game was hot, gradually got on top in the 2nd quarter and made it a one horse race in the third.
The Demons were like rabbits in the headlights, they had no space or time to do anything when they had the ball because they were being gang tackled by ferocious Swans players. As a consequence Perth were forced into schoolboy turnovers.
Where has this intensity been all season boys?? Honestly it was like somebody flicked a switch today. Swans appetite for the ball was insatiable. They got the ball 160 times more than Perth, they laid double the number of tackles than against West Perth. Every Swans player got more than 10 possessions. More than that, when they got the ball they used it more effectively and generally handballed to a team mate who was running. They made mistakes but because they had numbers around the ball they were able to mop up.
This was a real team effort, all the mids were great. I just want to single out Howard, this was undoubtedly his best game so far for Swans. He is a very promising young defender and displayed all the assurance of a veteran even though he is still only 20. Garlett did some magical things but to me he still doesn’t work hard enough when he doesn’t have the ball. He should look at guys like Hilders and Riggio as examples of guys whose work rate is always good. My feeling is that AFL clubs want to see more grunt from him before they take a punt on him.
The challenge for Swans now is that they have set the benchmark today, but can they reproduce this level of performance or close to it on a weekly basis, not just occasionally. They will get a chance to test themselves against Claremont next week. The Tigers don’t seem to be playing at their peak at the moment so it is another opportunity to put their claim down for a finals spot but only if they bring the same intensity to Claremont Oval
Perth would probably want to just forget about today, they never really fired a shot. Their key guys like Bevan, Bateman and Reimers were ineffective and they actually seemed to lack a bit of pace. Once the dust settles they will move on and realise that they have a very winnable game against Subiaco at home next week and if they get the points there, chances are they will be back in the top 4 this time next week.
100% outclassed today boys! Could not find a position on the ground that we won! Your backline was superb and forward entry precise! You deserve to be in the 4 on that win alone.
Swans have given us a faint lifeline today, but I have this feeling in my gut that Claremont are due for another loss & if Swans repeat what they did today, they might be the side to inflict that loss. It is a bummer having to rely on other results to get into the 4, but we have lost too many games this season.
A split round 17 and 2 big matches. Claremont would not want to take Swan Districts lightly. It’s going to be a big game. Perth have the ability to sneak into the four if they win at home
