V Subiaco at Bassendean

Crucial game for both clubs. I am hoping that Swans can pick up where they left off against the Sharks. Thursday night selection will be interesting. We know Pina is out but the rest is anyones guess. Will Kelly get a chance? Is Chalcraft ready to come back? Will Doc be playing again this week?

My gut feel is that Subiaco are a better team than we are. But for dropping a few close games they could easily be 5- 1 and challenging Claremont and the Doggies

I live in hope that the home ground advantage might produce an upset

Doc is off to Canada sooner rather than later so I’m predicting him to be an out, especially with Tom Smith having a game under his belt and then the bye week to double down. Impey should be back, but Chalcraft is still 4-6 weeks away.

agree Mike. I can see the game being won or lost in the coaches box and we unfortunately may be a a little lacking there against Schofield. Promoises to be a good game but I think Subi may be a little too strong. I hope I am wrong.

Lets hops Blake Kelly plays. An insult if he doesnt after his last few weeks.

Ins should be Impey, Kelly, Rigoni and Lynch to cover for Pina off half back/wing.

Outs Pina, K Chalcraft, Loftus and Steed

Let’s hope for an attacking game style with fwd handball and kicks that hit the 45* rather than backwards and sideways.

Subi Lions bleed, especially if an opposing Magic Wand gets broken.

So,out you go and get 'em!

Impey back for Doc and Erceg picked in place of Pina?? Thats a key defender in for a versatile pacy utility player. Am I missing something here?

Still no Blake Kelly. Not sure what Brad Lynch has done to deserve being in the ressies either.

Apparently Swan Districts currently priced at 2$ 60c for the win in this match. And Subiaco sitting at the one dollar 50c mark.

Hmmm, not sure what went wrong for Swans in this match. Sounded like a great game in the first half. After the long break, Swans only managed 3 goals in the second half, whilst Subiaco piled on 8.

With each team playing 18 matches, there is only 2 more rounds before the half way mark of the season is reached. Unless Swans fortunes change drastically, is difficult to see them partaking in Finals action. Whereas Subiaco seem to be improving.

I just spent 2 and a half hours watching a well coached and drilled team outplay a rabble who couldn’t even hit a target from 20 metres. The only reason why it was close for 3 quarters was that Swans defence held up pretty well and Subiaco wasted quite a number of opportunities while they were attacking relentlessly in the 3rd quarter. But inevitably the dam wall broke in the last quarter.

This was a depressing result for Swans and I think that the club is really now developing a losing mentality typified by the fact that some supporters applauded them off the field after that pathetic effort.

Not sure where Swans are heading from here but I am rapidly losing interest in what is going on there. The club is determined to persist with a coach that is clearly not up to the job and it was obvious for all to see today the impact that a coach like Schofield can have on a WAFL team

How long have we been posting about our abysmal skill level and nothing is ever done about it?

This minibus (half a coach) we have was totally out of his depth on how to counter the opposition set up!

We all wondered why at selection 2 big’s Erceg & Impey came in for a runner in Pina and a ruckman in Blakely and this was totally exposed with Subi having far too much run whilst Erceg had zero influence whatsoever and in fact was a hindrance. If anything I would have thought Sokol was the match up for Erceg but not too our clueless lot!

And sadly there is no on field leadership at all, all are more worried about picking up meaningless ball that they hand over to the opposition anyway through poor skills and mindless decision making!

Minibus? How about a broken down Kombi van

Have to agree with both above posts. Our skill level again was shocking. We can’t hit a target . Hand passes at people’s feet over there heads just not on the chest. Erceg just wasn’t with the speed of play silly mistakes I have to agree who ever said Jesse Turner calls for the handball on the inside only to put it oppositions players chest . We need a coach not a players mate. Same shirt different year.

I think your being a bit hard on em mate

Your speed and stretching the ground troubled us and yeah your backline held the dam for 3/4

I thought schoey was outcoached until 3/4 time.

Your gourmet pies at the canteen are really good and a good vibe all round i reckon

You don’t have to watch their football every week. They make the same mistakes consistently. Even though the scores were close till 3 quarter time, it was clear that Subiaco were in control. Glad you enjoyed the gourmet pies

I understand the frustration. I’m a lifelong footy student but new to WAFL. Only been to Bassendean 3 times.

Try not to rapidly lose interest,Mike.

Easier said than done,…..until you realise what Hardboiled Demon supporters have been through over Decades, not just years.

We are a cautious bunch even now,not knowing for sure which way a Season even in promising times, but just enjoy each Win that comes our way!

It becomes enjoyable, when after all these these years, good Wins happen the way they do,…

Hang in there,Swannies!

It might take a week or 3,but I’m sure hope is around the corner!

TBH isn’t poor skill sets rife throughout the WAFL? Just read every club threads here, most fans state poor kicking, dropped marks etc are rife when their team loses. Not sure the powers above at SDFC are actually going heed any concerns from the SD faithful……the club is unbeaten in the reserves, WAFLW and Rogers comps this year…..reckon they will all be thinking the club is traveling pretty well TBH…..no consolation for you Black duck diehards though…..must be frustrating indeed.

How often do we read about various games in the AFL having Poor Skills though? And those guys are supposed to be FULL TIME PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLERS!

Rocketracer what made you choose Subi, given you’re new to the WAFL? Appreciating your observations. By the way, was rocketracer a WA horse?
