V doggies at Freo

Well what are we in for this week? Off the back of Swans best performance of the season are the team going to attack this game in a similar manner? Nothing to lose, might as well give it our best shot. Not a great recent record at the port, only 1 win and a draw out of the last 12 games but hey thats just history, both teams start at zero.

More worryingly is that South appear to have rediscovered their mojo in the last few weeks after a mid season slump. I think we will go in with same team as last week barring any injuries

There will be at least 1 change as Pina was suspended for a week.

I know there was a bit of argy bargy, but didn’t seem serious from my angle.

Who did he thump?

4 changes

Pina, Cummings, Collins and Chipper out

Tom Smith finally cracks a game, Leo Steed is back from the 18s, Jackson McLaughan back from injury and Otis Harvey gets another opportunity.

Looks a decent side, hopefully they can give South a bit of a run for their money

Agree Mike. After a good showing last week hope we can build on that. So impressed with our ruck and midfield getting the ball from the center and throw ins. And our forward line now looks capable of kicking goals. Cipro was on song last week. But we must go higher this week at the kennel.

Does anyone know why Swans were decked out in pale green looking guernseys last week?

It gave the players a positive different look I thought? And they unexpectedly won too.

Wasn’t it Swans’ NAIDOC Guernsey?

Yes it was/is

A microcosm of Swans season. Lead the supporters to a hopeful state only for it to come crashing down in a heap again. To only kick 5 goals in a game on a fine day is frankly pathetic. Losing Jesse Turner didnt help but overall another disappointment to add to the many others. Meanwhile the reserves continue on their merry way which indicates to me there is some light on the horizon but without fundamental change at the club and football management level this talent will be wasted again.

We will see over the off season if this club is fair dinkum about winning a WAFL Mens Premiership or as I suspect just happy to continue on doing the bare minimum……

The surface at Fremantle was pretty much rolled mud with heavy areas in the pockets not really conducive to free flowing footy. Having said that we muffed up so many scores and scoring opportunities through poor ball use and poor decision making.

Sad inditement on Swans’ performance on the weekend is that the English soccer team kicked more goals than we did. However, despite the poor performance, there were some good points, like Impie in the ruck and Ernst in the forward line in the first half. Swans applied pressure to Souths all day, but couldn’t take advantage of the ball when loose.

It’s a Catch 22 situation, for we want the Black and Whites to win, but a victory on the weekend might have sent a positive message to the admin. that ‘all is okay…with a full list the team is competitive and the coach good’. That, in my opinion, is false. We saw it on the weekend - when South’s backline stiffened after halftime the coach had no plan B to counter Swans’ inability to score. Absolutely Nothing.

It’s been like that all season. Just can’t get it all together.

Also the continuing absence of two key players, Jye Chalcraft and Jebh O’Donohue with zero information from the club about if and when they might be back. Chalcraft has played one reserves game and O’Donohue 3 league games before getting injured. No real point in either of them returning now as the season is shot and has been for a month.

The new CEO has been in place for a while now, surely he can now see what a boys club the whole place is, unless he is already immersed in the culture

That, with South having so many out, was surely the end, if it hasn’t already been realised and translated amongst those in the inner circle. The CEO has a real opportunity to make a lasting impression and along the way use this as a steppingstone to greater achievements. Is he brave enough to make a call on the coach, or will he also be dictated to by the long-standing administration that has taken us nowhere.

Now would be the perfect time for the club to announce Pruyn is stepping down for work and family commitments. Let him coach the season out and put it on the team try and kick 100 points in each of the remaining games.

Erceg, Stephens and any others not likely to play on or be in the best 23 next year shouldn’t be considered.

Lastly, with Swans projected to make a significant profit this year, its not before time that we hire a full time coach for the next 3 seasons.

agree with all that - time to make a stand and shake the place up a bit
