Tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa

He did a job to get the innings moving. 48 more runs than I thought he would get. If Green comes back in test 2 I would expect Renshaw to return to the openers role

Few more than what Head scored as well. Rather the opener score 48 then a pair I guess, as you say mikeh, did a job, and TBH that delivery from the SA quick was a decent seed. 350 would be nice…though with 3 consecutive days of early finishes due to bad light…how about these players earning their pay, and starting earlier, to ensure a bit more play.

Australia will bat for 15 more overs after lunch I reckon. 120 overs are left in this game factoring in the bad light, Australia will want 100 over to try and bowl the Proteas out. Gives them a 2nd new ball if needed. Target will ideally be 350+ in those 100 overs

I reckon another 100 to 120 runs will be a safe zone

380 to 400 will be a big factor for SA

Danger time here for Australia

all Carey had to do was just play normally for another 10 or so overs

geez

Matt Renshaw and Beau Webster are scoring with relative ease, so I think the Proteas’ minimum target should be 400.

However, with 45 overs (in theory) to be bowled today plus 90 tomorrow, I reckon Pat Cummins will basis his declaration on the Saffers scoring at 4 runs per over to win the game.

It would be nice to see Renshaw score another century and Webster a half-century.

The moment I type that, I’m sure I’ll put the mocker on our batsmen.

Lead is good as at is,so losing a few late ones, after turning the sc*ews on 'em won’t matter much.

The weather can’t have poor light every day,so looking at today’s forecast,it should go the distance. So put them in for a nasty session of just over an hour and we should put 3 or 4 back in the Pavilion before Stumps.

That was a real pity that Renshaw couldn’t manage twin hundreds

thoroughly deserved that

some serious doubt about that catch too

but umpires call in the end

MOM Renshaw already

answers the question with a declaration so that Tea is taken earlier

421 is the target

about 120 overs to get them

Did we bat on too long?

Remembering we are losing about an hour and a half each day due to bad light.

272 1st Test Runs for Mr Renshaw.

Very Well Done,Sir.

Last I looked a few moments ago,the boys were piling it on,so they should start looking at advancing a Declaration, ensuring the Home Team are totally kn*ckered when we do Declare!

PS - It just happened,so we have them chasing 421.

400 should have been it mate

would have meant a full 30 odd minutes at them

6 more Wickets needed,…

The Aussie attack has looked pretty innocuous so far on this Day 5 pitch!

New ball in the middle session will be the main hope

Probably need a wicket or two before then though

If we can get 1 before the new ball you would hope the tail struggles to bat all day. 90 overs today if it goes the distance and the old ball was 41 overs old at the start of the day

About as innocuous as the SA attack on day 4 mate…geez if Maddo can make 48, and he hasn’t had a red ball bat for 2 years, and made a recovery from chemo, surely the Saffie bats can get close to this Aust total…

Going to have to find some wickets shortly

already 25 overs gone

Nortje looked anything but innocuous yesterday!

ah there you go - I did that beautifully
