Mulder was unlucky. Not sure was Verenne was thinking. New ball shortly after lunch will tell the tale. Markram has dug in and if Australia remove him, they will win
Yeah itās Markram
although Jansen can definitely hold a bat
not sure how long for
about to find out though mate
Interesting that Renshaw seems to be causing more problems with his bowling than Lyon
Its time for a change Mike be it Kuhnemann or Rocchicoioli. Lyon is well past his best and trying to hang on and is now telling the media how he has given up alcohol blah blah blah. Maybe get back on it as you certainly arent bowling better as a teetotaler!
Would be good if they could finish the job in the next session rather than playing Russian roulette with the light in the late afternoon
Yeah , Lyons two wickets in the first innings were thanks to two brilliant catches by Smith and he has been tidy but not dangerous today on a 5th day pitch whilst Renshaw is turning it a mile
Maddinson now ???
geez what is going on ???
New ball has done the job
All Done.
214 runs to spare and hours to boot.
Well Done Lads!
Hazlewoods performance aftĆØr very little recent red ball cricket has demonstrated how good this quartet of bowlers has been over a long time. You can say what you like about succession planning but all of these guys have consistently performed at a higher level than the alternatives. Lyons output has fallen away since his injury but the fast guys are way ahead of everyone else. So often they have rescued Australian from dreadful batting performances
We should celebrate this era of Australian cricket. It will be over soon enough
Not sure how long Haze has got with that bod of his.
If their Physios can help him keep it right for a well balanced workload,he might be able squeeze a few good years more,ā¦hopefully.
Sadly mikeh, like most good things, we only appreciate them when they are gone. Starc vilified at times by the fans for leaking runs, Hazlewood for his injuries, Cummins for his off field antics, and all 3 adopting the short ball tactic v the lower orderā¦plus Lyon for not being Warnie, and winning games on day 5. Their record is amazing, and most likely never ever to be repeated, replicated or replaced.
SA are a good side, they looked like they needed the run, will be with Rabada back. Important win by the Aussies, against the odds with all the off field stuffā¦rather 1 up then 1 down, SA will come back hard for sure.
Mate, if this aging fragile Aust battling line up can score back to back 300+ scores, no matter how fast or demonic Nortje was, as a groupā¦you did say bowling attackā¦the SA bowlers would be disappointed with their effortā¦though definitely will improve with Rabada back and as the series goes on.
I hope Aust rotates their bowlers, to keep them keen and fresh, but that wonāt happen, we never seem to learn from past series, when the same 4 tire and fatigue as the series goes deep.
Also kudos to you and your reverse mozz comment about Aust innocuous bowling attackā¦the wickets flowed after thatā¦good job mateā¦no doubt George et al will be grateful.
Vilified by some, constructively criticised by others.
Modesty forbids yourās truly to declare which department he is in.

Freeze Hazlewood was the only bowler who looked like taking a wicket yesterday. Starc was not making Markram & Mulder play enough, Cummins barely bowled, Lyon bowled far too full and was very innocuous, some of the part timers Renshaw, Webster, Maddinson looked more menacing on a day 5 pitch than the so called Goat!
Interestingly Hazlewood has taken 2 6 forās in his last 3 Tests which is also 2 of his best bowling figures for an innings in his Test career including his best last night - 6/49.
Freeze without my boy Renshaw (190 & 82) Australia gets nowhere near 300 in both innings!
Well lets hope he backs it up for the rest of the seriesā¦that, like for many other Aust batsmen is the problemā¦consistency. Never fussed at eating humble pie, as long as Aust winsā¦that to me is what counts come end of the day.
Donāt mind the old Humble Pie meself.
But do we ever hear the Media admit it?
Especially 7?
Donāt begrudge Maddinson getting 48,but you can almost bet London to a Brick, they said that NickāSilenced the Criticsā.

PS - Russell Jackson of the ABC is Stupid enough to believe that BULLSH*T Cliche!
Leave your Application for 7 at Reception,Russell!
Having Rabada out injured was good luck on Australiaās part
and certain there will be changes for SA
DeZorzi might also return to bat up top now along with Ackermann
Rickelton or Stubbs might stay in to keep to drop Verreynne
expect a stern SA response though
