Tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa

Fox Cricket just put up a stat Marnus hasnt scored a century for 3 and a half years, has averaged just 24 in that time (I think it was 26 Tests) all while batting at number 3.
I will never forget growing up listening to Ian Chappell every summer tell us that your best batsman should bat at 3.
We have had a virtual tailender in that slot for us since July 2023!

Did Chappelli mention Redders went 41 innings without scoring a Test Century?

Mind you,I reckon Ian Redpath probably scored more than a few Half Centuries in that time and probably got close to 100 a few times.

no mucking around

just stand your ground

if it’s there chuck every sink in the house at it

Partnership between Matt and Cam getting bigger,…

…ok Cam,take the Test off Bowling,…

:upside_down_face:

Marco Jansen is a seriously good cricketer.
Would have to be favourite for man of the series at this rate.
Wickets with the ball, runs with the bat, catching has been elite.

Greens innings was a microcosm of his career so far

Heaps of promise, invariably disappointing.

Inglis and Carey need to hang in till the new ball if possible. Neither looking particularly convincing at the moment.

As for Marnus only a match winning 4th innings century will prevent this being his final test

Haha. Another reverse mozz by me. Carey and Inglis were outstanding in that last session. If they can continue this batting tomorrow they can expand the lead to 100+ which will be significant going into the 2nd half of the match

Mate, if Marnus hasn’t scored a test ton for over 3 years, and still getting picked, not sure another innings is going to change all that.

So Green and Inglis in one innings each, score more than what Smith had scored in 4 attempts v SA in this series…despite Smith’s legend status, me thinks Smith needs to be told, if you want play for Aust, at 37 years of age fella, you bat where we tell you to bat, and what is best for the team…not the other way round.

Good to see the WA boys leading from the front, another 150 would be nice…but after the last 2 days, I will wait till stumps on day 3, before airing my thoughts on Aust bowling and batting efforts…anything can, and does happen it seems…anyone want their eggs Sunnyside up?

Nice dat’s work,boys!

keep it going!

Still 3 days to go. Plenty of time for more twists and turns in this game. From Australias point of view they want Inglis and Carey to bat for as long as possible, ideally the whole first session. Then contributions down the order to swell the lead up to around 150 or more.

From South Africas point of view they will want a quick breakthough with a relatively new ball and keep the lead down below 100. The pitch is still very good so South Africa will be hoping to get back in around lunchtime or just after and bat themselves into a lead

First session today will be critical

Looking forward to Inglis getting past 100

Interestingly he averages over 70 against spin, and most of the balls he faced early in his innings were from Harmer the spinner. Reckon he will be a key player in India

Nup

Fallen away

Small lead

Glad Inglis got there

Cummins has not really contributed much since the 1st Test.
0 wickets, similar runs!

Soon as Inglis went

it all just dissolved

let the Boers wriggle off the hook

more than 2 and a half days to go

bowlers really have to inflict some cuts

Lead wasn’t as great as hoped, but I’d like to think the Saffers were Stalled in trying to start their 2nd Innings earlier than they did and the resultant change of Innings caused some early damage.

WTF has happened to the stream???
First it was poor quality vision in the PE Test.
Now its non stop ads showing instead of the cricket.
Kayo are hopeless!

Fox/Kayo have just lost the Australian Super Netball League to Stan/9. Foreign ownership some Ukranian billionaire. Apparently TAB Corp recently made them an offer which they knocked back.

They’ll continue to drive up prices and include more ads with the cheaper options. My recent 5 or 6 month 50% off standard came to an end. I cancelled a day or two before and immediately accepted another 50% offer. $14.99 a month.

Still not a lot in the pitch. Ackerman is a bit of a find for South Africa. The Saffers probably need another 200 runs to give their bowlers something to work with. So a target of around 170 mimimum. Cummins cant buy a wicket so the Australians are really down to 3 front line bowlers. How handy would Scotty be at the moment… just saying

Another great day of test cricket…important wicket of the SA skipper from Cryin Lyon at the death, SA are technically 4/40 with 2 days to go.

I guess with the pitch being a 400 1st innings minimum, with Aust scoring slightly over par, and SA definitely under par, one could say Aust have their noses in front. Another big 1st session coming up tomorrow…you can’t beat test cricket eh?
