Tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa

Just saw a stat on Josh Hazlewood. Even though he missed the entire ashes series last summer, he is lethal when he gets on the park. In the 14 tests he has played since 1st January 2024, Hazlewood has taken 67 wickets in 14 tests at an average of 14.83. He is one of the all time greats.

Drop Lyon for the 2nd Test, put Boland in to give us 4 Pace Bowlers for this one.

weather looks like a lot of rain over first few days so not likely the pitch will dry out, and break down for turn

The weather could influence the selectors to go with a 4 man pace attack (Boland for Lyon) and leave the spin to Webster, Renshaw and Head

As described Lyon out for Boland

interested to see how we fare at Graeme Pollock Park

historically speaking it hasn’t always been a pleasant place for Australia

even in the 80’s our rebels got belted relentlessly by the great man himself

as a youger man I saw highlights of the big man with his heavy Duncan Fearnley

smashing good bowlers to the fence

he was in his 40’s

a brutal left hander with an incredible eye

Scott Boland

what a revelation this guy has been

This is Bolands 19th test. He has taken 82 wickets at an average of 18.5. He is very unlucky to be in a golden era of Australian fast bowlers. He would have been a 50 test player in any other country

Hopefully a bit more play on day 2 although the forecast doesnt look great

was interested to read yesterday, apparently the curator at this ground doesn’t believe in hessian under the covers, so if there is rain around i expect the pitch to be tacky and moist

Only a small sample size so far but Ollie Davies looks as technically sound as any batsman Ive seen in Australia of late. And he is timing the ball crisply at the moment fresh off that 250 odd last week in Sydney. He could be that long term opener we have been looking for…

The rain has stopped but the outfield is wet. Poor drainage may rule out play for day 2 unless there is sun and wind. A draw looking more and more likely

Scotty gets a 3rd,…

Geez Scotty Boland again

I had a thought he might be a hand full at one stage

Very similar to Vernon Philander

Same results too

He could get 7 or 8 in this innings easily

Will be very hard to pick Lyon ahead of Boland in future, unless the wicket is a dustbowl. He does a similar job to Lyon in terms of tying down an end for the faster bowlers but he takes more wickets.

Deceptively quicker than people think, keeps a good line and length and unless instructed, doesn’t bowl that short pitched RUBBISH at Tailenders that cough up cheap runs to the opposition.

Mate even on a dustbowl, Scotty B is more likely to take a wicket then Garry TBH

This Pommy bloke is to cricket commentating what Dermott Brereton is to footy. Just loves the sound of his own voice and goes on and on.

Great counter attack by Jansen has the Australian bowlers looking pretty shabby all of a sudden. Cummins has been pretty ordinary for the whole test TBH

Marco Jansen is a serious cricketer. He is turning this Test on its head here with the bat.

Tremendous innings from Jansen

Amazing what can be achieved with positive batting
