The Garlick effect

I believe that WA football, well the two WAFL clubs, had a win over the AFL during the 2025 season with the contract with the Kangaroos .
This was a venture taken on by Fremantle CEO, Simon Garlick.
I have spoken to Garlick on a number of occassions and he has been a pusher for getting a better fixture for his club Freamntle.
This contract was all done on the back of Garlick and the Fremantle FC. Nothing from the Eagles, even though they gained as well.
The win with the Roos and the AFL allowed the two clubs to spend more time and games at home.Less travel.
But, I believe that what happened this year is nly the tp of the iceberg.Garlick has even more clubs in his site to make the same contracts as the Roos.
He has the ear of the AFL in regards to this. It is a chance for them to help sort out the inequality of the draw for the two WA clubs.
Garlick is fully on board with the Fremantle Dockers and their progress. He has turne down offers from the AFL to join them.
But maybe He thinks the AFL Boys Club operate on the saying “Keep your friend close, but your enemies closer”.

Question without notice Anchorman and sorry probably not fully related to the topic. What does Fremantle need to achieve in 2026 for Longmuir to be assured that his coaching tenure will be extended into 2027?
Given the state of the list my feeling that anything less than top 4 next year would not be good enough.
What do you think?

I have no idea where JL and the club stand, but he is contracted until the end of the coming season I think.
But in my opinion we have to make the top four. Our squad is better than it has ever been.
Players at the right age to create havoc with the big boys.
We should have gone far deeper this season. A disappointing seasons end.
I know if he fails to go deep this year , many will be screaming for his head. Not just calling for it.
If he goes, it is a wonderful start for whoever takes over.
