Swans v Peel 6th June

Last week’s final term was an event not a pattern!

The pattern is pretty obvious.

This club is dilusional at all levels. The fact that the bloke that they didnt rate and wouldnt play for 12 months leads the stats with 29 and 5x I50s agst AFL oppo says it all. We are a rabble. Heads must roll. We have been doing the same thing since Dawson left and apart from one good year - are miles off. The supporters deserve better. The club is comfortable as they tick all the boxes off field. We will get absolutely flogged by WCE this week in front of 500 supporters.

Just for something to do, was looking at the Swan Districts stats for last season.

At the completion of the qualifying rounds, one stat saw Swans were averaging 35 Ball disposals per goal for the season.

We are currently at the 1/2 way mark of this season and Swans average Ball disposals / Goal is curently 35.2.

Put us back in the pack though.

You have got more faith than I Mike I cant see us beating anyone else, especially if they play with the complete lack of intensity I and many other Swans fans witnessed on Saturday, that in itself is another thing how they constantly put in poor efforts with zero repercussions. Would be nice if they actually thought about the fans who travel every week to watch such insipid performances, even the occassional sorry to their fans wouldnt go astray but we would just prefer they ALL have a crack for 120 minutes and not leave it up to just the usual 3 or 4 players!

I have been to every game and yes there are skill deficiencies and poor efficiencies from key players that seems to go unnoticed, but the effort and commitment is there from most.

The defensive pressure starting from the forward line through the midfield is non existent which then gives the back line no chance of stopping the ball coming in at speed.

It takes a full team commitment to defense or it will always be one way traffic.

The back line always cop the blame as this is where the opposition scoring happens but if there’s zero pressure up the field then good luck.

As for the Reserves, we’ll they are a fantastic bunch of young men whom should be apart of the next League premiership side in the future.

I believe in building from within and added a few external pieces to the puzzle in key positions only.

How can the effort and commitment be there from most but then you state two thirds of the team’s defensive pressure is non existent?

Thats what I thought??? Also the reserves won the flag in 2023 and that really went nowhere in subsequent years

Yes SD. But where is the overall improvement coming from. It’s been the same for years. Things look good we import a few players but no over all improvement. If not the players then is it the coach.

Mate EF reserves won the flag in 2024, then the reserves spoon in 2025, and are 0 n 7 I 2026…..reserves footy is just that reserves footy

A pattern has occurred a few times over the years, but is very obvious this year. How is it that players in the seconds that are playing well in a successful team are not elevated to the league team that are struggling individually and as a team to succeed. Swans’ position on the ladder - and the average performance from last year would suggest experimentation is needed. I do not think we are short of enthusiastic players in the seconds.
