Just been informed that long term footy board stalwart of Footygoss and OzFootball Anchorman has suddenly passed away.
Very sorry to hear that,Bazza.
He was a man of many thoughts on Footy and whether we agreed with him or not,he always made you think about various aspects of Aussie Rules Footy.
Hope the Dockers players knew him well enough to pay their respects to him tomorrow!
Rest in Peace,Anchor.
Terrible news
sorry to hear and condolences to the family.
Sad news indeed. Condolences to his family and friends
I am deeply saddened by this news
My thoughts are with his family who have a long association with the South Fremantle Football Club
I am pretty sure they would be crestfallen at this time
Rest in Peace mate
Cheers
RIP brother - always enjoyed reading your posts
That is sad news Baz. I enjoyed having as bit of banter with him and he will be missed on here.
Jeepers that is a shock, he has been a regular poster since the footygoss days.
Condolences to his family.
PS - I also hope South Players knew him well enough to pay their respects to him.
That is very sad news. Anchorman has been a regular contributor to this blog and its predecessors for many years. His posts were always thought provoking and he had a passion for his beloved Bulldogs and Dockers. RIP and condolences to his family and friends
Sad news out of the blue. Never met him, but he was full of life here. RIP Anch.
Very Sad. He will leave a massive void on here. Glad South got the win for him last year and would be nice if Freo could do it for him this year.
Politically we were way off but WAFL certainly brought us together.
RIP and condolences to his family.
Anchorman was a big contributor to this site and way back to the former original Footygoss days. He was also active on other prominent AFL Blogs.
He also founded and ran the South Fremantle Memories Facebook group which had well over 2000 members and has been hugely important to keeping memories and connections active for suporters, it was agreat trubute to his later brother and champion player Fred.. he was also active on the Bob Maumill page mainly running free PR for the Labor Party ..LOL
Anchor was a fanatical Dockers and Labor man and I seldom agreed on much during the online banter. But he was big contributor creating topics and getting things going.
His last post was just 4 days ago following the SF defeat in the derby…sadly Anch never got to see that elusive dockers flag…maybe if it happens this year it was meant to be.
Vale Anchorman.
RIP to an old Footygoss stalwart.
RIP Anchorman
Sad news,Anchor seemed to be quite a reasonable chap and hopefully he has left us at a ripe old age.
Passed suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday. Loved his footy and chatting footy did our Anchorman….and as mentioned a passionate SF and Freo fan. Gutted to hear of his passing, as we enjoyed many a good chat via Oz Footy, Footy Goss, Big Footy and via messenger. Was a mischievous soul, who possessed a subtle wit and humor. RIP mate
A real shock to hear of Anchorman’s passing, given his great contribution towards preserving the history of our great game in WA and his even-handed way of expressing his opinions on a broad range of footy topics.
My condolence’s to Anchor’s family, friends and all those who knew him via his connection with the Bulldogs and the Dockers.
There are some people on this site and its previous iterations that earnt mine and many others respect; he will be missed for many reasons but for me it was his rational thoughts on many issues
Unbelievable news! Was only last week Anchorman posted on here.
Going to leave a big hole on this site. Sending condolences to everyone concerned. Enjoyed reading his many posts regarding the Wafl. A sad loss.
