I would love to see them get more. If a fringe 18 year old AFL listed player can get 80K a state league player should get at least 10.
This possible if AFL clubs pay a fair (much higher) amount to state league clubs for the players they take off us.
Should have to pay the club a player drafted from at least $100K per player.
Minimum AFL base contract is a tiered structure
Top 10 draft is $130k
11-20 draft pick $120k
21-50 draft pick $110k
51+ draft pick $105k
First and second year players also get $4000 match payments for every AFL game they play, in their third year it moves to $5000 per match if they are still on the base contract.
Duursma and Murdoch will earn more in their combined base contracts and match payments than the total salary cap each WAFL can spend.

The gap between aligned/standalone AFL reserves teams and the traditional state league teams is enormous and only going to grow further apart.
There needs to be a rebalance and a significant increase in State League Salary Caps.
WA Football is undergoing a review at the moment and the WAFL Reserves Comp is in under serious threat due to costs, volunteer workload etc. If the Reserves comp goes would WA Football transfer the operational cost savings into a larger WAFL salary cap?
Wouldn’t mind each 100% WAFL Club getting an extra $20 Grand,to pay each Reserves Player $50 per game,then if League Players are paid less,their pay gets adjusted to something a little more,…

state league player are acutely underpaid compared to depth AFL players.
the odd depth AFL player strikes it rich and is on twice as much as the prime minister to play 15 state league and 5 AFL games a year (e.g. Brayden Fiorini, Jeremy sharp, Matt Owies)
its quite obscene when you have a bloke in the state league on $250, out pointing the journeyman AFL bloke getting $35,000 for the same game.
Unfortunately I don’t think $20k would be enough. Ressie’s players generally need to arrange their own player sponsor if not they pay to play.
