Round 13 2013 v Swan Districts

Shaping up as a great game with so much at stake.

It’s possible that Sinclair will be back. Maybe even Grover. He looked in pretty good nick in his first game back in the reserves.

A plus also with a number of the young blokes - Le Fanu, Halligan, Clarke, Garcia, Norriss and Fetherstonhaugh all continuing to play good footy in the ressies - along with Genovese who is a fine clubman and a good player in his own right. Rhett Kerr also found some form in the ressies last week.

Will be interesting to see what tagging job Bogesnperger gets in the midfield this week. Might be a good match up for Tom Roach.

Forward line looking good now with Wood finding his range and maybe Sinclair up there this week as well.

Should be a fairly high pressure game with a lot at stake for both sides.

Subi better watch out, last time we played according to our coach our goaless 1st was the best we have played all year..this week we may even kick a goal..

Can’t see Swans playing that badly this time. That’s the problem. This year, opposition sides never know what they’ll get from Swans. If you blokes all fire up as against Perth then Subi could be in trouble. Then again if Subi can get enough of the ball to Wood, Wheeler, Sinclair etc, then the boot might be on the other foot. But Subi don’t really have a match-up for Garlett with McDonald out injured.

It’s an intriguing game on paper.

according to our coach we played well that day..

Yeah, I read that. Odd considering that old timers that I spoke to like Percy Johnson and Ted Wishart said it was one of the worst displays of football (both teams) seen up until half-time.

I guess Swans were getting the ball though. If that counts. Though, no good if you cough it up every few disposals. We were worse.

How long is McDonald out for mate?

Not sure. The report just said knee. Hope it’s not long term.

Lammie is out for Swans, leg fracture..
Sinclair, McDougall and Wheeler will have a birthday..

Mark Olsen, I’m not sure if you got passed on the information about what the coach said at quarter time or just didn’t hear the full message. I was out there and heard him tell the team that it was the best they had defended all year and if they kept that up but took better care with the ball that they would get the rewards. This proved to be true when they had a great 2nd quarter. His 3 quarter time spray however obviously had little effect as they played terribly in that last quarter.

check out the Swans website coaches blog - “In the first quarter I think we played our best footy for the year.”

this is the quarter we kicked 0.2 !

It was the worst game of football I think I have ever seen. However, we were about three goals up at half time and if we had kicked straight in the third quarter we would have won the game. Make sure you get to Leederville this Saturday.

OK, I didn’t read that. Based on what he said at the break I presume he meant the best defensive footy because clearly the offensive part was deplorable.

Subi only have to kick 5-6 goals to win..
each week we give up 5 at least from turnovers and 4-5 direct shots at goal from free kicks as our defenders are on a different wavelength to the umps so that is 9-10 goals to Subi before they even start playing.

I am afraid you are spot on there, Mark.

Heard on the Swans show last night that Wes Lammie will be out for 5 -6 weeks at least with a fracture in his foot. There goes our ruck!

Mikeh we have some promising younger ruckmen in the club. Namely, Blakely, Lobb and Cary. In conbination with Notte I suspect that we may be able to match it in the main. On a more positive note we are likely to get back Ames, Bennell and Casserly etc.

Looking forward to the game on Saturday with a fair degree of optimism. Certainly I hope that there will be a large contingent of Swans’ supporters to help the boys get over the line at Leederville.

Harding reckons Ames, Neale and Bennell to play.
Bennell has been averaging 7 possies a game in the ressies so we cant expect much out of him..
hopefully Lobb plays, played SBL last year and a handful of colts games for Swan Ath and is tipped to get drafted this year..

Nah, seems to have been out for longer than expected.

Still, sometimes the AFL blokes names appear in the side in the paper on Saturday after getting clearance from the Eagles. Couldn’t be too far off.
