EF are going to be at full stretch all year TBH KC…going to be a lot of ‘sink or swim’ for the EF youngsters…and simply ‘staying alive’ for the senior players. But hey it is what it is, and just going to have get on with it…hopefully some of the youngsters can find their league feet and quickly…and some of the older boys staying fit and healthy…losing Murdock, Zadow and McGuire last minute, definitely not what the team needed.
Perhaps Bill can squeeze a few of those EF futures boys in KC?..started the season with a bang they have…back to back 100 pt victories v WP and SD…find it hard to believe, that the best of ones best juniors at that age group, could win or get beaten like that. A junior club within that zone yes…but the best of your best.
Can remember many a belting back in my junior days…gave some, and received some…especially v Morley, St Marks…both sides back in 70’s and 80’s, were very strong. EPH, Noranda and Coolbinia, not so.
Tricky part about having a great group of kids at that level,is picking them to graduate to Colts Level, making sure that any that miss out, don’t burn you down the road!
Most in the know would realise SD, EP & PT are at a disadvantage when it comes to the Futures due to having some of their best players unavailable playing for the South West side!
Maybe they could take the Great Northern boys out of EF, the Great Southern boys out of CL, the Goldfields boys out of SU etc to even it up?!
Funny how the Commission enforced that scenario, knowing the 3 Clubs you mentioned would NEVER Vote Yes to a South/West WAFL Club.
What’s their way around that?Have West Coast and Freo included in on a Vote?Of course, you know what the Result from that would be,…
Yep I see your point BH…I wonder if the South West Acaadeny fund these boys development at futures age and below themselves, instead of Peel, EP and SD…if so, then that’s a freebie right there for those clubs…if not, then yeah SD are hard done by
Freeze your the one beating your chest about multiple 100pt+ futures wins ffs.
I was just pointing out it may not be a true reflection of the whole talent due to extenuating circumstances.
But if not then maybe Swans zone needs to be improved instead of continually being decimated to appease other clubs whilst the strong EF & CL zones just continue on unchanged and dominate!!!
Im sure the new CEO Brad Wira would be all over that…not!
Beatng my chest about EF futures victories? ..no don’t think so, tongue in cheek reply to KC about EF ‘missing players’, suggesting Bill pick a few of them…
I ask again BH, who pays for these SW academy boys at Futures level…SD, EP and Peel?..or until they reach colts, these SW futures are developed by the SW Academy? If not the SWA, and SD are paying, then yeah that’s not right…if not SD, then what’s the problem…they represent SWA…you guys get a freebie in early development and reap the rewards when they play colts…
Considering Perth’s zone is crap, and went undefeated last year in the futures, not sure SD have any excuses…anyway, anyone in the know, knows that Future’s success doesn’t translate into League success…or even colts success.
back to back 100 pt victories v WP and SD…find it hard to believe, that the best of ones best juniors at that age group, could win or get beaten like that. A junior club within that zone yes…but the best of your best.
And you conveniently missed the initial few lines before that quote of mine BH…I ask again mate…does SD fund the development of the SD boys in the SWA futures squad or the SWA?..if SD do, then yeah that’s not fair…I’d be pissed…like you obviously are.
Why dont you ask that to our CEO or Football Manager?
It would be no different to EF or any other WAFL club re country zone juniors yeah?
The only difference is they can still play for their WAFL club in Futures unlike the SW boys.
