Peel Football Club - back to back Premiers

What a fantastic effort to come from 3 goals down. Backs to the wall stuff. The boys showed tremendous heart and I will to win despite a number of injured soldiers. Lost Dawson early after he started well and Deluca got what looked like a bad cork.

I thought this was a better win than last year. Didn’t get the fireworks I was expecting but it was a hard fought contested game. Got screwed over all day by the umps. Not sure what the free kick count was but Fark me it would have been well in Subi’s favour. The Wheeler free and goal just before quarter time was dead set holding the ball. Think the WAFC wanted Subi to win to justify rule change from last year.

Crowd was excellent given the weather and who was playing. To Subi’s credit they tried hard all day. Thought Horsley Kitchen and Phelan were their best.

Lawlers and Subans tackling and pressure was outstanding. Bennell was cool and controlled down back with Luke Ryan and Collins. Nyhuis did another good job on Liam Ryan. Taberner was mauled all day but still did a good job hanging on to a few marks and kicking 2 goals.

Going to be a huge night. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was an absolute joke this was allowed to happen. The wafl will change the rules for future years, this is a certainty. If freo had a shred of decency and wanted the current setup to continue they would have taken the moral road and stopped the farce.

I feel embarrassed for real peel supporters

It would be remiss of me not to mention our master coach Cam Shepherd. Thought he completely out coached Schofield today. A well deserved coach of the year award winner.

you’re talking to yourself as you have no supporters…enjoy..another cup in Freo’s locker.

RD he might get poached by the AFL.Maby Freo.

Yeah Nyhius towelled Ryan up again, that’s why there is question marks on him , Nyhius isn’t a Freo regular and there’s better defenders in the AFL .

Enjoy RD, I suppose Subi supporters now know what plenty of opposition supporters have had to go through after the Grandfinals against a side that’s always had an advantage over them.

Has anyone got the scoop on how many local zone players subi had today?

If the results were reversed I reckon Shep would have at least hung around to hear the speeches and not stormed off the ground like the bad sport sore loser certain other coach did today!

A pitiful 8 local zone players from Subiaco (not too mention a vast number playing in their Reserves that they have poached from outside) & 4 for Peel!
A very sad day for WAFL football.

Be fair. They’ve picked up one supporter in PN,who’s dumped us for Peel, just like Gerard Ugle did.

And there must have been a few supporters of CentreLink get a Free Return trip on a special Bus.They came out of nowhere after hibernating all year at the skateboard parks down south.B)

RD, well said, and congratulations on a really gutsy win. That Wheeler free was a disgrace and inline with a number of dubious calls and non calls in favour of the martyrs all day. Well done to Shepherd too. Sure he had AFL players who are also accomplished at WAFL level (as opposed to the barely adequate ones we get), but its got its own challenges being in charge of two sets of players that come together on the weekend, and much of what you can do is on match day only. I understand he asked for greatness at 3/4 time and that’s exactly what was needed and shows he must have some idea. No doubt John Todd was on the subi sycophant train as well, given his detracting comment, so well done Cam.

RD…are you seriously suggesting the WAFC tried to manipulate the result of the match? Do you honestly believe they sat the umpires down and suggested they umpire to aid Subi? Are you suggesting it was not an even playing field out there if so? For what it’s worth I thought the umpiring was abysmal and one sided and would like your honest opinion as I was not at the ground.

Subi had the better of the whistle 24 to 12, so double the frees, not quite as bad as last year which was 19 to 6, over 3 times difference and only 1 Subi free after 1/4 time, so lets get some perspective. Each team has had a good deal from the umps but only 1 team was loaded with full-timers and only 1 team won both GF’s. Good thing is it leaves the WAFC no place to hide re the rorted player qualification rules which look likely to be limited to 11 with the additional rule of more WAFL than AFL games, unless Freo make the finals … bahahahahahahah.

That will be good for you guys you can go back to dominating the comp lol.

Yes it would be an injustice if they don’t change the rules so Subi can dominate again.

You watch the chequebook, eftpos cards, petrol cards, whitegoods, general motors vehicles will be severely splashed out over the summer to avenge…and will all be given the green light/nothing to see here as per normal by their ex officials who are all now at the Footy Commission!
