Great to see Ipswich bounce back for another bite of the EPL cherry. Hopefully McKenna et al can learn from their 2024/25 mistakes, and keep their EPL heads above water in the 26/27 season. Have followed Ipswich since seeing them win the 77 FA cup final v Arsenal….first ever game of professional soccer watched……only picked them pre game because they were Old East colours of blue n white. Stuck by them ever since…..even got to see them play during my 15 years in the UK…..nice ground, and like all English soccer fans, very passionate about the sport……don’t know why though…..boring as BS as a spectacle……
Add 1 year to that Cup Final,Freeze.
It was Man U v Liverpool, though my happier memory in ‘77 was Winning the Totle and our 1st European Cup in Mighty Mouse’s(Kevin Keegan)last Season with the Reds, before bidding us Auf Wiedersen Pet,for where else but Hamburg
Cheers Grassy…..such a long time ago I guess….78 then it is for Ipswich beating the favoured Gunners….Micky Mills, George Burley, John Wark and Paul Mariner were my faves back then…..and of course Bobby Robson the manager.
Who joins them and Coventry?
Southampton, who get the trip to Wembley 50 years on afterall,or surprise packets Hull, who despite a low Goal difference, have timed things just right,to get to Wembley as well.
Southampton no longer in the final…..got caught for spying….lol….so Middlesborough get the chance v Hull for promotion…..whilst Southampton get pinged 4 points for next season….the Saints fans must be spewing….amateur hour or what?
Southampton get pinged for that?
The FA must be bl**dy joking!
Yet again they ping someone for something minor, compared to the one mega club they won’t touch, probably out of fear, they’ll be bankrupt if the owners of a CERTAIN Mob Sue and tie them up in the highest Court in the UK for years!
Bl**dy Joke!
You either administer for all or not at all!
Coming down to last game to decide if WEST HAM or SPURS go down, SPURS one point ahead ,IF they draw or lose and HAMMER get up its down they go.
Spurs have to lose. A draw would be enough for them even if West Ham win because of their superior goal difference
They’re 2 points ahead of the Hammers.
Correct a draw will be enough even if HAMMERS ALF GARNETTS Pride win.
Unfortunately, Alf Garnett (Warren Mitchell) would be crying in his grave as despite his team winning 3 - 0 against Leeds United, the mob from North London won 1 - 0 against Everton, Managed by former West Ham boss, David Moyes.
Oh well, they don’t usually stay in the next tier for too long.Their supporters have got a 62 500 Capacity Gound to fill,so they should fill it!
Home Record next year should be 17 1 1 or better,if they play more.
I know they miss Upton Park, but the Eastenders should rally in greater numbers next season, which should CLEARLY OUTLINE to their Board, what the expectation is!
Instant Promotion WITHOUT FAIL!
They were relegated in May 2003 but returned after two years, ultimately winning the 2005 Championship play-off final against Preston North End.
And they were relegated again in May 2011 but returned after one year, winning the 2012 Championship play-off final against Blackpool to come straight back.
So hopefully it will be just as quick next season. Maybe they can pretend London Stadium is Upton Park.
big shame for the hammers, they did all they could…
gee i watched the spurs game . they had most of the ball and the shots on goal but the one they got in was messy bit of old luck, anyway it did the job, the toffeys hardly had down near the net…looked half hearted tbh.
well thats it spurs survive by skin o teeth as members of the last relegated team in ‘77 watched on…
Think young Glen Hoddle came along the Season after,to get them back to Division 1,which included a 9 - 0 Home Win,which had White Hart Lane in Raptures.
Then a couple of fellas from the Pampas, came along for 78/79.
Keith Burkinshaw told the wonderful story of what Ossie told him after signing for “Tottingham”.
Ossie couldn’t quite get his tongue around Tottenham, but it appeared to be easily forgiven early.

But back to what he told Keith, with words to the effect of,”I have a friend who would like to play for you as well and if you want to sign him,his name is Ricky Villa!”
