Harper Banfielld

Good Kid,a great talent.

Making his League Debut this week,…for west coast’s reserves.

Any chance you guys get a look at him, before an AFL Club does?

Hopefully Claremont get him back, unless the Blinking system has him"managed".

West Perth won’t want to see him again this year,if his presence at West Coast(wrongfully),cost them a potential 2nd Win.

Who will Harper be playing for next week?!

Just waiting on a CERTAIN 2 posters to answer that one,…

Your guess is as good as anyones.

Hopefully Mr Townsend can provide the answer to that tonight.

He’s tied to West Coast through Father Son so can play for them - particularly if not chosen in CFC league side. Great experience for him and sounds like he did well. Can only enhance his chances of getting drafted.

You would hope he gets to stay in that side for rest of the season or at lest a couple more -rather than flip flop between Reserves, Colts and league at Claremont.

When was that clause added and why did the 8 WAFL Clubs allow it?

It’s Wrong, because he hasn’t been Drafted yet.AFL Clubs or rather their mouthpieces are telling us,once a player is drafted,he is AFL Club property, playing wise.

But now they’ve found a way around that with some AFL Father/Son BS!If it’s so important, why not follow that principle through all the way and quickly transfer to Subi, where his old man played?

It’s post June 30 I hear one reply.

That’s funny,so is what is happening now,but now that doesn’t matter.Nor the fact,it’s nowhere near Draft day.

Won’t help Claremont much,but that doesn’t matter now,does it?!

It should not matter how Claremont plays him,he should be a Claremont Player regardless,…

But oh hell, let’s give him to West Coast already, what’s a few months,eh?

I try to convince a WAFL Mate, the Competition has it’s issues,no thanks to Certain Parties,…there’s No Corruption.I’ll be very hard pressed to convince him otherwise if he hears about this.

And he follows the eagles in the AFL.

I don’t have an issue with it - young fella had a good carnival and if not selected for Claremont league then it is a good opportunity for his development and can give him a better chance of being drafted. Eagles get to see him close up in amongst other listed players and coaches.

He has trained with them before as part of the Father son rules - happens at all clubs.

If Claremont select him in their league then they will have priority.

Banfield boys chose Claremont zone where they live over going to Subiaco presumably.

I could say I just about give up,but I won’t!

Well then,Mr Landsmeer thinks he’s better off at West Coast instead of Claremont,…

Better off at west Coast because he is playing league footy - unlikely to get a game at Claremont league - although that may change over next few weeks

If 8 Clubs outside of Peel agreed to it,even post June 30,then I guess he’s free to play for West Coast.

But just how much in this supposed "spirit of co-operation"are the WAFL Clubs giving to the AFL Clubs on a plate?Seriously, how much more do the 2 AFL Clubs here want?!

Did West Coast pay Claremont an extraordinary payment for Banfield’s services? It ought to be TWICE the normal Maximum if you ask me!

I know Perth Supporters would be EXTREMELY P*SSED OFF if one of our promising Juniors was swept away to an AFL Club before Draft Day.It’s bad enough when they are wrapped up in cotton wool for the rest of the Season, when they can still play Footy.

And that’s regardless of whether they are used as Colts or Senior Players. We consider them to be OUR players, until a Draft or Clearance says otherwise.

This isnt a first!

Only last season Tylah Williams (SD) & Harper’s older brother Charlie (CL) also played for WCE WAFL in the latter half of the year.

Maybe, but didn’t you get your player back?

It’s one thing for them to have 1 game for that Charity Case in West Coast, the rest of the season,C’mon!

It’s not a big deal…we get dictated to by the PSA schools who say who is available, Banfield playing for West Coast is great for the young man to get the opportunity to play league footy that he may not get at Claremont.

I think you have repeated yourself with the same answer 3 or 4 times TT. This topic is using up way too much oxygen.

If the main focus of my team and the competition is not to win a premiership I’m done

If Banfield was a Subi player, would you want him to help Subi achieve that aim?

So if one our promising Colts who could play League Footy and might help us Win a Flag, gets snatched by an AFL Club before Draft Day and we fall just short,….that’s not a problem for you?

You guys are looking for that one key player that might get you that Elusive Premiership, which could be Harper.

He helps West Coast Trip you up in the Final Round,COSTING you the Double Chance,….you get bundled out by East Perth or Subi,…it’s not a problem?

Banfield is our player and if Prescott wants to select him then he’ll play league for us but if not then I don’t see what your issue is with him playing for West Coast?

It’s in the rules and has been done several times in previous seasons.

he played well on debut for WCER last week against WP but not sure he was as dominant as the West and Perth Now suggested.
