Drove The Card

I will christen the trots topics.
I see yesterday Ryan Warwick drove the card (6 winners from 6 races) at Kellerberrin.
I cant remember that ever happening before especially here in WA?

Incredible feat BH. I reckon the likes of Chris Lewis, Trevor Warwick (is that Ryan’s old man or uncle?), Fred Kersley, Phil Coulson would have gone close in their prime although a much tougher feat at Gloucester Park I reckon.

Yep spot on DD with those champs you have named above, probably could add Jim Schrader and Gary Hall Jnr as well.
Ryan is Colin’s son Trevor is his Uncle.

fair effort but compared to harness racing in the 80’s (like most things nowadays) today there is not much support. It is a good night out at GP on a Friday night similar to the Dogs.

Every Friday we used to go to GP and it was packed, Saturday was spent behind the hill at Basso (funnily enough where my kids play today when we go). Lots of good things gone.

Gary Hall Snr should be in the list with Lewis, Warwick and co as well.

My first memory of going to the trots was the famous “Match Race Of The Century” between 2 of WA’s greatest ever horses Pure Steel and Satinover.
Like you Viper I spent my childhood at Basso Oval on a Saturday (or wherever Swans were playing) and quite often was at GP or the old Richmond Raceway (remember that track next to Shark Park) on a Friday night mostly in the Summer tho. Saw some great horses back then Pure Steel, Satinover, San Simeon, Preux Chevalier, Village Kid and many many others they were good days. Would loved to have seen Mount Eden race but he was long retired before I was born unfortunately.

Yes we used to go to R/R as well. The ol boy owned quite a few horses. bloody trials constantly. Did get invited to the interdominions once

Ken Casselas would know if he is still around?

Trots better now than ever, some of you getting old.
RR was a terrible little track, 600m with a 50m straight, just terrible. Plenty of people still go and quality is superb.
