Eagles are going to rip 'em a new one!
 B)

Now that’s got us worried!!!

Our ins are Blayne Wilson, Cale Morton, Ashley Smith, Scott Lycett, Adam Carter.

With McGinnity and Waters out, you would expect Wilson and Smith to come in. Why did we trade for Wellingham again? Surely he would be right to go in this big game and would fair better than the other names.

Wonder who Crowley is going to tag, i am guessing Gaff or Masten given Shuey is still not playing.

Be interesting to see who he tags, you are probably right in saying Gaff. Lyon may give Crowley a bit of freedom and let him run loose as he can be very damaging playing ahead of the play and with Kerr out, no Wellingham (so glad we didn’t get him)and the remainder covered, it could free him up to be more offensive.

Crowley on Priddis for sure. He’s the Beags only in-and-under player this week with Kerr and Shuey missing…so close Priddis down and Freo have a huge advantage in the mids.

I would actually prefer crowley to tag priddis. I think priddis’s in and under style will not be as affected as a gaff/masten. Priddis will more than likely still get his 25 disposals and hopefully they will be handballs to gaff/masten running. I think if they shutdown the runners then the eagles are stuffed.

Dont think Lyon will give Crowley some freedom, if he was not going to tag someone, he would be dropped.

Morton to play over Wellingham…and Wilson. Not to sure about that. But hey prove me wrong Morton. Just dont be a complete seagull like your Melbourne days.

Who would Lyon drop Freo’s fairest and best winner?

That question makes no sense.

Will be happy to answer your questions if they make sense.

Soprano in your previous post you suggested that if and I quote ‘Dont think Lyon will give Crowley some freedom, if he was not going to tag someone, he would be dropped’. I repeat why would Lyon drop Freo’s 2012 F&B (Doig) winner?

“Who would Lyon drop Freo’s fairest and best winner?”

That question does not make sense. Are you trying to say

“Why would Lyon drop Freo’s fairest and best winner?” or

“Who would Lyon drop Freo’s fairest and best winner for?” or

“Would Lyon drop Freo’s fairest and best winner?”

Why would he…because Crowley is not a good footballer, he is a good tagger. If Freo were not going to tag anyone, I would personally drop him and bring in someone who can actually read the play and play football not keep a player that can read a man and play on a man.

I think you are splitting hairs over an obvious typo (RIP) James. But Crowley would still be playing even if they didn’t use him as a tag.It is like saying Worsfold wouldn’t have got a game at the Eagles if it wasn’t for his henchman attitude. It was a role that Malthouse made up for Woosha and he played it to the max,the same applies to Crowley.

Wasnt splitting hairs over it, just wasnt sure what ol mate was questioning.

I understand what you are saying, any club in the AFL would have Crowley in their team as a tagger, but if he was not tagging…how many clubs would want him? or who would pick him in their side.

I would say their wouldnt be too many teams that would pick him up if he was not a tagger. It is just an opinion, and obviously the situation above would not happen, because he is a tagger and most probably will always be one.

Oh how droll. Soprano who do you rate at Freo and why?

My top 5 at freo:

  1. Fyfe - Young and talented, has the ability to turn the game and win it single handedly
  2. McPharlin - Easy one of the best CHB’s in the competition, always taking the oppositions best forward.
  3. Barlow - In and under consistent midfielder. Great player
  4. Mundy - On par with Barlow as freo’s best midfielder.
  5. Pavlich - Obvious inclusion here, when he is up and not injured, makes this team a premireship chance.

Anything else you would like swan?

Interesting choices Soprano. How do you rate Mayne, Ballantyne, Walters and C Pearce?

My 5 would probably be the same as Soprano’s, with Mayne and Walters very, very close behind. I think Mayne is quite an under rated player.
If Hill defended better then he wouldnt be too far behind either, he just seems (to me) lazy when the footy isnt in Freo’s hands.

Mayne, Ballantyne and Walters are very good players (probably would be the next best 3, along with Johnson. I would say C Pearce is good, but not as good.

Mayne I dont think is underated anymore, definately was at the start of this year, but not sure anyone under rates him anymore, especially not the commentators.

Freo now have a very even playing list and arguments could be made for maybe 10 players that could be in the best 5. Ballantyne, Walters,Johnson and Mayne come to mind, as mentioned by others. Freo are looking pretty good at the moment with top 4 pretty well done and dusted and a slim chance of top 2.
