Accounting errors? You do know there’s International Financial Reporting Standards in place to ensure everyone uses the same accounting principles and report in a uniform way globally, or is PFC exempt and prepares its accounts anyway it likes?
Yes mate.
Errors were made.
They weren’t blatant attempts to cheat the Cap.
Call a truce you 2.
We’ve been down that path before,…
I’m not sure a chunk of change paid to Chris Bossong should have been posted into the tea and biscuits ledger account. If anyone wants to make unsubstantiated accusations against my club, then I’m happy to take up the challenge.
It was minimal and an oversight.
Move on.
Zones are regularly assessed and participation levels are a key factor in ensuring zones are considered to be evenly balanced.
We don’t have any more players in our zone than Perth does. Yes we have 3 PSA schools in our zone, so does Perth.
Don’t cry poor when you have some very affluent areas in your own zone. Riverfront property comes with a price tag in your zone too.
And if you want to know what a financial benefactor looks like, you just need to look to your right, your co-Tennant is the richest club in the country. How much have you benefited from that arrangement with West Coast funding your oval lighting, 2nd oval, scoreboard and also pay for the ongoing maintenance costs of your ovals. And haven’t they also pledged another $1m to your building when it goes ahead.
Maybe if you spent more money on players 35 years ago and had a bit of sustained success when we were still getting 30k to a GF you might have brought in more revenue to then fund the next wave of success.
But no better to just wallow in the bottom half of the ladder for the best part of half a century and blame zones for your onfield issues.
Amazing how your zone has produced some really strong AFL talent but apparently can’t produce WAFL League talent
I’ll move on when idiots stop accusing my club of being dishonest without proof when they can’t say the same about their own.
If you don’t like it Grassy, stiff shit as you’re the most prolific poster of crap on here, but you’re not the oracle.
I never pointed the finger mate.
You’re arguing with the wrong person and using a flimsy example to hit back.
You are embarrassing yourself TT stop it. Treating us like idiots isn’t the way to go.
It’s not simply about participation numbers and you know it.
Bc your club has been cheats for decades.
And BTW I’m far from idiot but I do wonder about you.
End of topic.
TT the relationship with WCE is a good one born out of their desire to move to Lathlain.
Bearing in mind that the lights and scoreboard were done for their benefit, our use is a benefit. Not sure you can put a huge value on it.
Maybe sharing things is a compensation for sharing our home.
Financial rewards from their relationship are limited in comparison to some clubs alignment.
Being nice to people can pay dividends.
We are still not a “rich” club.
I don’t think any WAFL club is rich! Most will struggle to balance the books this year. Rumour has it that East Fremantle looks like it will make a small profit this year but are still working on improving the balance sheet!
Lathlain wasn’t West Coasts first, second or even third choice but the ToVP was the most supportive council approached - Cambridge and Stirling had issues with the size of the development at the Eagles preferred sites and their request to fence off publicly accessible reserves.
Redeveloping Subiaco Oval with modern training and office facilities wasn’t cost effective.
And you can put a price on the benefit you receive from your co-tenant:
- Oval resurface - $700k-$1.5m
- Second oval redevelopment - $1.5-3m
- WAFL Match Standard Lighting - $1.5-2m
- LED Scoreboard $150k-250k
- Annual Oval Maintenance $100k-$250k to WAFL Standard (significantly more for the surface that WC maintain at Lathlain)
- $1m commitment to PFC’s Clubroom Redevelopment
So thats ~$4.5m to $8m in direct costs that other clubs need to pay for directly or negotiate part funding for from State or Local government, plus add in the ongoing benefit of not having to pay to maintain an AFL quality training surface for the next 30+ years.
Every WAFL club is poor, as Custy suggests, most will just break even each year, and that’s after the $800k annual WA Football payment each club receives.
Way off Tiger:
Perth didn’t need a resurface if they stayed at just Perth playing there. Certainly don’t need oval two if just Perth playing there.
Lighting not really required - 100+ years of football have been played without lights.
LED Scoreboard not required until they knocked our old scoreboard over.
$1Mill committed to a build that may never happen is pittance.
The eyesore that is their new building is a neg.
Them maintaining the ground is a positive - but if we didn’t have their two teams playing there the cost to do this would not be anywhere near $250k a year. Closer to $80K of which i am pretty sure that the council paid for the majority of this.
Your response just outlines why Perth have been non-competitive for nearly half a century.
You’ve failed to keep up with the rest of the competition as its evolved.
Having modern facilities like quality lighting for training is a non-negotiable, your senior squad gets that benefit 3 times a week thanks to WC.
Do you think that your Futures, Rogers, Colts and WAFLW sides benefit from having a second oval with quaility lighting and being able to train at Lathlain as a result whilst most other clubs utilise community facilities for some if not all of these teams to train.
Its hard to get volunteers and nearly every club has moved to LED scoreboards that can be controlled by 1 person not 2-3 and you don’t have to sit out in the weather to do it.
No around the Ground Scores for the Public to view on our scoreboard, though.
Not sure if Peel still have their’s below the main scores anymore.
South and Swans have a manual Scoreboard. They seem to go ok,though South’s manual clock is b*ggered, replaced by a Clock on the Members’ Wing.
Others?
Excellent debate. I tend to agree with the Perth boys that the Claremont kids are bigger and come with more parental investment, but that’s life… . Nothing we can do about that.
Claremont are a well run club. They do a lot of things really well. That’s true too. Let’s run the experiment and swap country zones at least for a decade or two. We could publish the results. Would be fascinating.
no chance, Claremont have invested to much time and money into our country zones for your little experiment.
Claremont run 20 to 30 coaching clinics a year in our Great Southern and Kimberley zones, and from feedback given at the parliamentary enquiry into WA Football, Perth couldn’t even drive to South Perth to engage with a junior club in their metro area.
When did that happen?
Perth failing to visit South Perth JFC?
Was brought up at the last Govt Enquiry into WA Football Funding. There has been plenty discussed on here about it previously, and the person speaking at the enquiry was a former Perth Board member and SPJFC committee member.
Also plenty of feedback on here previously from a Gosnells rep that they had never seen Perth at training or games
You seem to know about our workings more than us mugs do,…

A lot of outsiders seem to have a side interest in Perth, especially one B.Raponi…
