B Grade Round 2

Round 1 is done dusted and not many things surprised MrM results wise, however a few interesting things in some of the auxiliary grades for B Grade, but we may touch on them later.
Should be another exciting week and then we can all rejoice at getting a well-earned break next week, Thanks P.F.L.

Speaking of getting a break did anyone see that a particular Perth man whom is involved with another “Club” could not get a game at his former Colts club and they rejected his application? Talk about catching a bad break, that’s despicable. Granted he is 54, but if you need players, take them I’d say. (PS if you haven’t seen, watch Wednesday Night episode on The West – Ben Harvey Up Late).

Into this week now with 5 fabulous games.

Melville v Ocean Ridge @ Melville Reserve

Both clubs coming off from tough losses last week and you would expect both to bounce back, especially in this game, where there may be the biggest differential in ground sizes in the P.F.L. Melville, what was last weeks performance, was it a case of fining your feet, or will be a long year for the Rams of Stock Road. Onion Ridge suffered a loss at the hands of a pretty good side, so you would hope they would bounce back, and I think they will here, this is a big game for both clubs.
Ocean Ridge by 2 goals

Wanneroo v Wembley @Wanneroo Showgrounds

Something about football at the Showgrounds just feels right to MrM, crowd, a grand stand and parking around the oval, it’s a football lovers dream. Wanneroo will know Wembley won’t want to fall to 0-2 and Wanneroo will be looking for a good start to the season once more. Wanneroo were good last weekend, but Wembley were unlucky to lose. It’s the Gooden Cup here and the Battle of the V. I think Wanneroo at home, to get it done.
Wanneroo by 3 goals

Whitford v Baldivis @MacDonald Reserve

Whitford were good last weekend and you just know depth is going to be there strong suit, minus dropping the 4ths and Colts having to forfeit, but good depth will hold them high in MrM’s eyes. Baldivis are very much the same, improved and will not make it easy for clubs along the way, I think they will be a surprise packet for some with their depth and quality of players involved. It will be a fascinating contest for both sides here, I think Baldivis may be able to get it done, just away from home, the crowd on the balcony 250 metres away a non-issue, they will do it.
Baldivis by 2 goals

Collegians v Swan Athletic @David Cruikshank Reserve

MrM is hearing worrying things about Collegians, and he does hope they are not true, not quite Colts Coaches related bad, but even having a Colts side is a struggle from what MrM heard, but we know this will chance dramatically. The League side though, were winners, and that is what matters most. They prevailed over a side that many fancied, even MrM did, so all hope is not lost but they come up against a Swan Ath side hungry for wins. Swan Ath will not want to get off to the kind of start they did last season, where they spent the rest of it chasing themselves. It will be a tough game and one they hope they could win, but I think at home inside the GT, the Collegians boys will be too classy.
Collegians by 3 goals

Mt Lawley v Bullcreek Leeming @Inglewood Oval

Mt Lawley have a big homecoming here at Inglewood oval, and Infront of a raucous crowd am sure will be better off for it. Imagine having an oval and rooms where everyone isn’t looking into the sun, wow, instantly 10 times better in MrM eyes, just hope the few have their certificate of authentication to enter licensed premises to enjoy said rooms. As for Bullcreek, well it’s a battle now and we know they will be up for it, it is just a shame they face a fancied Mt Lawley side, but Bullcreek do have more former AFL players, so who is the real winner. I think Mt Lawley at home.
Mt Lawley by 3 goals

Good luck to all this weekend.

Ocean Ridge to get over the top of Melville by 8 goals. Melville may struggle with the jump to B grade this year.
Wembley to get up over Wanneroo who scraped home against SA last week.
Baldivis to beat Whitfords by 7goals
Collegians and SA in a close one. Swan Ath could be the surprise by a goal. Been suggested the SA Capt has left the club.
Mt Law to get a win over Bullcreek. Hear that covid has hit the Hawks with quite a few players so it could be Bullcreeks chance. But go with Mt Law at their new ground by 2 goals. Should be a good crowd

Rumour mill of the week - if clubs dont report covid cases or close contacts and play players who are meant to isolate and then caught that big penalties will be given.

Good luck to all

Looking at the PFL circulars on the PFL website that particular rule was circulated to clubs about 2 months ago WCE1987

Slow on the rumour mill I would suggest

Can’t wait for you to tell us about the rumours circulating about Langer and his coaching status…

Never said the rule wasnt circulated MM. Not sure if you have had a few brandys already. Just saying, if some clubs want to risk it, do so at their own peril

Langer to England

MrM clearly has had a bad week at work. But credit where credit is due for studying the PFL circulars in detail and navigating the PFL’s website. I thought only club presidents did that.

My tips are:

OR by 5 goals
Wanneroo only because it’s at home - 3 goals
Baldivis by 7 goals
Collegians by 2 goals
Mt Lawley by 4 goals.

Ridiculous that anyone would risk a fine/suspension/time on the big house just to play community football by not following government mandates.

MrM has had a good week at work thank you. Only realised the rule was in place after WCE1987 mentioned, so MrM had to do some fact checking. I leave the important stuff to the important people.

A couple of surprises on the weekend. Not sure what happened to Baldivis, maybe Whitfords are the goods? My team got the chocolates in Mount Lawley, but the fwd line coach needs to get them kicking straight. They had so much of the ball in the first half but could not put it where it matters most. A great ground and new club room to. They were also hurt by covid like other teams I suppose. Bullcreek didn’t have their Captain play, not sure why. Looks like SA could be struggling a bit and what is going on at Wembley? Anyway, it appears not too many people are interested in the B grade forum this year apart from MM and 1 or 2 others.

Enjoy the week off and Easter.

If b grade 2021 taught us anything it’s not to run your mouth prior to finals.. might explain the responses.

Baldivis lucky not to get belted after being 6 goals down prior to half time. Sure to be better on their home deck.

Good to see the Whitford Colts get a comprehensive win after the abandoned game due to Covid last week. Anyone know how they divy the points? Ladder still not updated.

UHT,
could not agree more!!!

Unholytugboat good to see you back again, you had MrM worried about your well-being.

As for the points, unless Perth Football League pulled a swifty on all of us I believe
4 points are awarded for a win
2 points awarded for a tie
0 points for a loss / forfeit
All ladders are looking good to MrM.

Might be some gremlins on your end, perhaps contact your local internet provider and link up to the NBN, it’s done wonders for MrM.

As someone mentioned before, we expect most club presidents read the circulars, surprised your unfamiliar with an abandoned game & points delegation..

No doubting we will see as it was confirmed via the PFL. Coved sucks.

I think MrM may need to remind himself that whilst he may think he’s one of the most intelligent people going around, he’s only one of the most intelligent people in Wanneroo, so it may not account for much.

As long as the correct procedures are met any regular season fixture that is canceled due to Covid is treated as an abandoned match.

Per the by-laws:

Where any grade has abandoned matches that result in an uneven number of matches being played by teams over the course of the season - match ratio calculations will be applied to determine final ladder positions.
ie. The number of matches won (and drawn) by each team will be divided by the number of games played by that team to determine the ratio of matches won (and drawn).
Teams with equal ratios will be determined as is provided for elsewhere in the By-Laws (ie. percentage of points scored for and against).

Thanks for suggesting MrM is intelligent TheDuck.
MrM is quite surprised people still talking about this - seeing the event occurred 9 days ago and people call MrM slow.

MrM was not aware of any changes regarding abandoned matches, so perhaps should refrain from applying for Mensa just yet.

It’s community football, no need to be arguing over a points ratio for a competition, just takes the fun out of it.

agree with the consensus sMelville will struggle in Bgrade - wont notch more than 4 wins if that.. Bunch of ferals!
ANd what a cryBaby #19 was on the weekend. Kicks a goal, acts like a hero, gets a bloke Yellow carded and after his team looses the game sooks to mummy and Daddy that the other boys at the playground didnt play nice. Flog.
