I think the message is clear. A big portion of people in the country are completely over party politics as we know it. Liberal and Labor need to pivot towards this rather than abusing One Nation who have picked up the mood and run with it. The trend at the moment is towards populist politicians running “drain the swamp” campaigns a la Trump and Hansen is doing just that. She is tapping into disgruntled people young and old with very little policy and the established parties need to respond to this trend or we will have a complete shambles like what is happening in the USA

The good thing about it it will stir the other two parties to step up. Cook won’t get everything his own way. Consider the people. Can’t hurt for a while.

They’ve been bad for years,yet when alternatives were available,or at least several Independents in the Senate,they just got talked down,even by the masses going meekly along with the rusted ons.
Now the PHONIES are around and have been for years,people want to latch on to them,even if their policies conflict directly with their beliefs.

Hopefully this sends a warning shot across the bows in Canberra and we see some change with them listening to the people, number 1, on immigration numbers and intake and how we have been ignored for decades on the issue, Then there’s Albos massive lie on his property tax changes, Said he would never change then went ahead and did it, now its making things worse for renters and those in debt, then theres the Aboriginal issue despite being wacked fare and square on the Voice shambles, some State Govs have gone ahead and done it away and Albo insists on having three national flags at every opportunity and undermined OZ day by letting Citizeship Ceremonies be moved.

The two major parties are still too busy trying to tear each other apart, rather than listening to the public and developing policies that help everyone that is struggling atm.
Voting for independents won’t fix the cost of living and inflation issues we are facing, as they can’t facilitate real change. And voters are starting to understand that.
And the disenchanted major party voters are looking for an alternative despite the obvious flaws of PHON. But it is a party that does have some policies that resonate with the voters and rightly or wrongly the majority of people will vote for a party over an independent or the Greens.
i was listening to some interviews on the way home from the beach this morning from folk down at SH and it was funny listening to the reasons for their votes. Yep, tired of state labour but still thankful for them being in power given the pathetic efforts from the Liberal party and its state leader. The comment that rankled the most was the nostrils assertion that he was proud of their efforts of giving their preferences to the party with no policies.
As long as the magistrate’s nephew is the Libs leader then they are going nowhere in WA.
