2026 WAFL Attendances(Watch)

A bit different than WP’s second game against WC in 2019, played at Lathlain. We got there early, chucked our stuff on seats in the grandstand in the Perth members area (near the steps to the bar as we can’t sit there for P vs WP games) and headed down to the bar as you do.
About an hour later we headed upstairs and were presented with a sea of blue and gold decked supporters, our seats were completely surrounded, they were like ants and had come out of nowhere (they weren’t there in the first game at Joondalup).
What’s worse, we lost by 11 goals.

The under-grandstand bar (Rovers?) was closed. The “pig pen” can bar next to the grandstand was open but you had to drink there (it wasn’t open the last time we played them there 2 years ago). “Rod from Success”’s HJ stall was open, as was an ice cream van. That’s it.

No Coffee Van or Food Van then.

Pretty disappointed in the SF v P game, weird early start time didnt help..why do they do that?

First home game for the premiers.

Looked like 2000 or so… Didnt see too many Perth supportters there

I thought that there was around 3000 mate maybe a touch more

some were leaving by 3/4 time though

What are you talking about? 2407 top attendance figure by a mile for the round and you won’t travel to Lathlain. Anyway was a pretty warm day I usually stand along the boundary near our interchange but legs and feet were going to be flaming red if I stayed there all afternoon so spent the last 3 quarters in the stand where there were many Perth supporters doing the same.

Pretty spectacular pre game show with 3 parachute jumpers whizzing around in the sky with one of them flying the flag all the way to the ground in front of the members. All Perth supporters applauded to acknowledge your premiership unfurling of the flag.

I am hoping to see a simple unfurling at Lathlain, for the 1st Home Game next year.

Nothing too complicated.Just a Flagpole parallel to the middle gate.

With 10 000 there.

STILL WAITING FOR 4 MISSING ATTENDANCE FIGURES from the 1st 2 WAFL Rounds.

Probably took only a day or 2, if that after each Round in 1966,averaging 43 000 per Round at the same stage, with less technology at our disposal.

And people paid Cash to get in the ground,…

Was it the last year of Pounds and Shillings?

I could go on,…

5 420

5 420 for the 5 games of the ANZAC DAY Round.

I’ll let that sink in for a while,…

Before I Start about the VERY POOR ATTENDANCES on ANZAC DAY WEEKEND,I have to wonder Yet Again,if the Football Commission TANK the figures by Not Counting ALL Attendees who went through the Turnstiles.

Because I’m sure there were about 1 800 minimum at Lathlain on Saturday and at least 800 on Sunday.

Such figures make for great reading anyway, but would indicate a more real figure of who bothered to attend these games.

But the Attendances of the 5 games just completed were as follows -
Saturday
Perth v East Perth 1 497
Subiaco v Peel Thunder 809(1 036)*
Claremont v East Fremantle 1 132(972)*
Sunday
West Coast v Swan Districts 675
West Perth v South Fremantle 1 307

5 420 for an Average of 1 084 in Super to Good Weather.

Comments?

Bease, you start mate. You share the same concern as I do and Bensti,…if you’re still reading mate, come on.Let’s hear from you after a long spell.

Even allowing for TANKED FIGURES,they are ABSOLUTELY APALLING FIGURES,moreso that we have a population of 2 MILLION in the Perth Metropolitan Area.

*NB - Amended figures above in Brackets.Make of that and down below, what you will.

Amended Aggregate - 5 487
Amended Average - 1 097

Anzac Day fixtures deadset strange like the shops hours over this weekend just gone, supermarkets closed saturday but open on the monday public holiday, work that out ??? I thought cook had sorted all this weird stuff.

back to the attendances, well, Perth v EP those two lots tout that as a block buster rival thing, well the fans did not respond, barely 1500.

1300 at Joondalup fair dinkum surprised by that looked more like 800!

Tigers v East well neither get a lot.

as for the other games, well hardly exciting fixtures, no games Monday and no AFL,the weather was a shocker but hey why not fixture a game when sfa was on AFL wise???

I suspect the Football Commission may have factored in the WAFLW attendees, who possibly headed home well before 2.10PM.

On the flipside, attendees may have not counted After The Final Siren at Lathlain on Saturday. There was a Colts game afterwards, with a few hundred there, possibly coming into the ground late in the afternoon.

It looked like about 1 800 in the Sun,but fell short of that,…but the Football Commission never really tell us who is counted as Attendees, who is Not and if Not,Why the Heck Not?!

Well I watched the game on 7 and it sure didnt look like a lot…so unless you have any hard evidence to prove otherwise the official attendance stands..Lathlain has a very weird format now and holds stuff all anyway.

Wouldn’t need to when South visit, usually with the same amount of home fans that attend blue and YELLOW games.

Besides,7 cameras probably usually pan on the empty outer spaces.

We are one of the best travelling supporters in the game.

And where are the figures for the SD v SF clash round 1??

Well, thank heavens a few people have rediscovered their Love of WAFL Footy.

I take it you(and moreso You,Bazza)saw ALL the WAFL Attendances so far?

They’re a general Disaster and the WA Footy Public has a bit to answer for here, not just Eagles and Dockers Members.

Latest Attendance Release

Round 1
Subiaco v East Perth 2053

No point getting worked up over Wafl crowd figures. The attendances for the rd 1 are just a tick over 5 and a half thou from what’s been said. Not a very good return for the first round. Wafl crowd figures have literally fallen off the cliff in recemt years. Ssdly that looks like contiuing. One has to ask is that by design? There doesn’t seem to be anything of substamce being done to address problems in the Wafl.

Well,there is.

And that comes from continually prodding at the Football Commission to do something about it!

Even in this current climate, reduce the price for Adults to $10,buying the Football Budget with the current deal locked up,optional.

Wear your WAFL Club Apparel on Public Transport and travel for Free. Why should it be exclusive to AFL Fans?

Promote each week better and louder for gawd’s sake!

Earn your pay and new name WAFC and DO SOMETHING!

State Labor Gov has no interest in the comp, this is last year of Foundation Day derbies which was the last hold out event of stand alone WA WAFL tradition, they also gave a big boast to the attendance figues each year, well forget it, from next year we go full Vic up against the AFL Monday long weekend games …loses its WAFL stand alone ..most people will drift away and stay home and watch AFL. What happens to the annual Foudation Day Cup…??? Tragic death of WAFL along with the fans so old now literally endangered species.

See my comment. Cook and this mob unlike Barnett have Zero interest in WAFL, forget any help re fixtures, public transport etc.
