WAFL 2026 In's and Outs's

Livingstone is a poor to average player. He may develop, but given that Perth are in an unusual position of having depth with talls, I assume he is going to a team in desperate need of a ruck/forward.

Mikeh, agree entirely with your view about SF concessions. They won the flag in 2020 and made finals in the following two years. Missing for two seasons doesn’t require league intervention. Likewise Subi - they had almost two decades of almost unprecedented dominance. Now, faced with 3 years out of the finals, they are getting help. On the other hand, clubs like Perh and SD should be able to retain concessions for long enough - at least 5 years - to build sustained success. There’s no point having those teams have a level of success for a year or two before sinking back to the bottom once they are required to rely on local players.

Would you say he is going the same way as Broadbridge, VG colts player but maturity has not brought the League requirements

I assume you mean Broadbent. I don’t think Coen is that bad. Broadbent couldn’t manage 5 disposals a game in Subi reserves.

oops, yep, thanks

Is is true the WA govt bailed out EF to tune of almost half a million dollars?

I haven’t heard that PD. Have heard that they put circa $25 million into the clubs redevelopment. Weird that a lot of that went into a new privately run bar/function area. The viewing stand is half the size it should be.

I have heard Perth have plans for an 800 seater. I would be interested to know how many shark park seats.

TOVP council meeting tonight to discuss the lament about some trees getting knocked over - then next week we should see an agenda out for the December 9th meeting that is slated to discuss The Stand for around the twentieth time. My worry is another adjournment till March - then June - then October - then December ad infinitum

The Gov did bail out WP not long ago too. Perth’s finances have always been very well run knowing that if we need help we would get told to F off.

Reckon there will be more WAFL news after this preseason draft - which will be over in 3 days I think.

Perth’s financial management has been very good since 2000.
With only one minor operating loss since then.
Thanks to the late Brian Lawrence who put us on an even keel after nearly going down the gurgle.
Having said that it, it has been a conservative approach, hence conservative recruiting.
We are now turning the corner with a more aggressive approach.
Hopefully, some success will reward the P & L statement.

KC, from memory EF have a pretty good record in transforming Perth players into premiership ones…especially in the last 40 years…long may that continue…Forman was my favourite of the lot of them…though Marlin is right up there.

The irony here Ted is that the reason that South Freo finished so low on the ladder in 2024 was that they were docked 8 premiership points for a breach of the rules in 2023. So in a perverse way they were rewarded in 2025 for bring punished in 2024!
I would say that they still would have probably won the flag without these concessions so why give them to a team that has been consistently challenging for finals in the last decade. Same with Subiaco, they don’t need the assistance, they will bounce back in 2026 now that they have a decent coach.

If Rioli was going to play for South’s next year that would have been announced by now. He’s not even in their WAFL player list. Benjamin Fairbank from Perth is on WP WAFL player list.

He’s currently playing for the Tiwi Bombers in the NTFL so if he is playing for SF he won’t get transfer in till late Feb or mid March depending on how their season goes.

I’m pretty sure Brandon Parfitt and Zach Derksen were added to our list last off season while playing in NT.

Bolton has retired. A good footballer

So far WAFL clubs get through the drafts unscathed apart from the youngsters but now the nervous wait for the train on invites.

Peel are stocking up nicely…as are WCER…

Yiannakis an out for East Perth.

Never heard of him. How is he an out?

Ressies player for EP. Played about 10 games for them this year. Not that dissimilar to our Fairbank. Plus I know him - thought I would give him a bit of press. He was one of those kids who absolutely dominated in Juniors - like association best in Year 10 etc but just found it hard to break into the East Perth line up as a “play your role” small forward.

He played reserves. One of players who the skills but a little height challenged
