Just looked at the score card,in the first dig, and the WA boys had some starts, but none went on with it.Need some to do more than make starts.Need partnerships.
and of course a week could not possibly go by
where Cameron Green fell over a blade of grass
and injured itâs poor self
out again
whatâs the bet the poor little thing doesnât play for half the season
Seems to be something in the WA watersâŚGreen, Richardson, Paris and Morris all seem to have violet crumble physiquesâŚcanât see Green bowling at all this summerâŚnor Morris, and most likely RichardsonâŚfingers crossed Paris returns soonâŚbut he is an injury waiting to happen most summers.
WA staggering to a defeat in HobartâŚCurtis is WAâs only hopeâŚSadly WAâs two most experienced bats only accumulated 31 runs between them from 4 attemptsâŚso many starts and no one able to go onâŚlooks like WA have fallen off a very steep cliff since their last Shield trophy only 18 months agoâŚ
Freeze in that 18 months they have had 22 innings and only got over 400 twice.
And even more disturbing 10 of those innings have been scores under 200.
Not good enough and a statement needs to be made starting off with the 2 openers who have been deplorable for too long!
Otherwise it might be Voges who is out of a job!
BH and Freezin, I agree with your comments. I suppose my only observation/ question would be who is in the wings to replace these non performing batsmen? Wylie seems to be out of favour, cant think of any others who are banging the door down in grade or 2nd XI cricket.
Honestly opposition bowlers must salivate when they see Bancroft shaping up to them. They k now hes just going to show zero intent, occupy the crease and not put any pressure on them. As a result the WA innings loses momentum from the start. 6 from 38 today and that puts pressure on the other players to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Contrast that with Jake Weatheralds approach where he attacked the new ball and played what will probably tum out to be the decisive innings in the match. WA need a guy like Weatherald or at least someone who will try and keep the score moving with singles and twos if they canât hit boundaries
Well and truely in the do do.Still 44 to get and two wickets in hand.Three good start to build on, but failed to go on with it.A scenario that is happening far too often.
The load is on Curtis and Rocchiccioli to get the required.
As @Beasley_Hutton said, maybe Voges is no longer untouchable.Could be his job on the line.
I hope Roccichioli just swings the bat tomorrow.
Just read the result, 3 bloody runs.
Damn.
confirmed that the top orderâs confidence level is next to zero or worse
there simply canât be the same squad named for the next fixture
or the season will be gone after 3 games
and I canât see who they will actually beat given how poor they are anyway
who is the coach and where exactly is that person and what is that person actually doing?
I watched it this morning and it was fantastic entertainment! Rocc will be wondering about the singles not taken.
Interesting that there were no LBWâs in the whole game, until the last two wickets!
Lets face it Corey Rococholli showed up the recognised batsmen with his determination and his refusal to give away his wicket. Great effort by him and hopefully the batsmen were watching and taking notes. Curtis was unfortunate to get one that kept low that still was a little line ball IMO given Meredith was coming from wide of the crease but WA really shouldnt have needed to be in a position of relying on umpires decisions to get them home.
For those calling for wholesale changes for the next match, who is banging down the door to replace the likes of Bancroft, Whiteman and Cartwright? You canât just throw young players to the wolves and expect them to perform
Bancroft has to go
probably understand Whiteman staying for the time being being captain
at some stage new ones will have to come in
but changes have to be made after this one
Well Green, Marsh, Connolly & Inglis should be automatic ins when this meaningless/pointless one day series against India is done.
So thats 4 positions up for grabs and Bancroft & Whiteman should be the first 2 to make way!
Sadly BH the fellaâs who actually scored double figures in that WA 2nd innings, will make wayâŚGoodwin 48, Fanning 31 and Curtis 50.
Problem with the four you mentioned BH is that apart from Connelly, their shield appearances are going to be few and far between given their Australian squad commitments, so its not really a long term solution. It was a brilliant game in Tasmania that we just came out the wrong side of. Lets see how they go in their next few games before making wholesale changes
maybe that is the approach mate
keep it the same the season would be shot very quickly
and be forced to bring in newer talent to regenerate the outfit
currently it is the batting that is falling apart
Scores from the Second XI game vs ACT at the WACA during the week in batting order-
Hardy- 50 & 1
Murray- 61 & 55
Wyllie- 64 & 50no
Wasley- 93 & 1
Critchell- 53 & 8no
Holt (wk)- 33
Blaxall-Hill- 85no
I saw a bit of this game. It was like U12s v U18s. Time for Lochie Hardy to come into Shield opener calculations. Had a good couple of seasons now. Had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus but has been a real talent since junior days. Nice pedigree with old man Mitch a former Wallaby and still playing cricket for Leederville himself.
Its got me stumped (pardon the pun) why the likes of Bancroft & Whiteman especially seem to be continually picked when they are hopelessly out of form?!
Can understand them giving them an extended go last year after the 3 years of success as a team but that was 2 seasons ago now!
When did cricket selection become like this and not solely based on runs & wickets alone?!
Good to see Wyllie score a 50 on return, even better it was at a decent clipâŚfor him at leastâŚyeah the young bowlers got some welly, but you can live with that, due to their ageâŚexciting watching them crack in with some zipâŚthe less said about Cam & Sam the better.
