We went through the motions at times and a Swans out played us. Number 47 in the reserves is a super talent I would take him at EP.
I didnât see any of the reserves game, Larry, and hadnât heard of Swansâ No.47 Lewis Zolnier-Owens (4 goals from 7 disposals on Saturday) until I checked the WAFL website.
However, his career stats (52 goals in 33 reserves games and 35 goals in 19 colts games) suggest that he has talent.
I wonder how Swans supporters rate Zolnier-Owens (not that weâre trying to poach him 
).

Things must be going well at EP when you have 5 Interstaters playing Reserves including 2 ex AFL listers in Macreadie & Burgiel. I would have thought the last thing EP need is another tall forward with a list consisting of Graham, Kuek, Schofield, Middleton, Medhat, Fullgrabbe, Freitag (one of those Interstaters recruited) already all struggling to find a place inside 50?
Macreadie and Burgeil both coming off injury werenât they?
Swans, individually and collectively, seemingly played with a sense of freedom not seen for the last few seasons, even when we made the top 3 in â24 (off the back of some very lucky results).
Make of that what you will but a very interesting 6 weeks to finish the season.
If you guys knock off South and Peel coming up,it most certainly will be!
I would describe Lewis Z-O as a bit of a loose cannon. Certainly has talent, is very bubbly and a great clubman to have around. Maybe not the most talented bloke out there but has a real crack and uses his body well. Prob needs a bit more fitness to really show his wares. What he does have is an ability to find the goals and possesses great skills. That is becoming rare at WAFL level so I really do hope he finds a way to show off his talents. He is mid sized so usually gets the 2nd or 3rd best defender which helps. When SD have been at full strength he has found himself playing in the bush. He can be a bit injury prone which doesnt help his fitness. Not unusual for SDFC to let a talented player slip through their fingers so hopefully this latest patch of form gives he and the club a bit of confidence that he is a League player.
Is he the one who came from Perth or thatâs his brother? Strange how they ended up at different clubs playing colts. Twins arenât they?
I dont think they are twins - Lewis hasnt been at Perth but Im fairly sure his brother Oliver was. They were both at GGS originally

Looked a little overweight but his hands are elite. We have many forward options none of them likely to strike fear in the opposition. Unlike the Swans full forward who has claims to being the best FF in the WAFL.

Despite having 0 expectation given Swansâ season and that they had nothing to play for whereas the ferals had lots to play for, I decided to go.
In my comments I was going to say good things about Scott Jones, but after what he did to Ernst in the 4th I changed my mind. Anyhoo, thanks for helping Swans win.
(On the feralsâ theme, I see that Darcy Miller has cleared to SWFL. I assume that the lowly Swans didnât present the league opportunities he was hoping for.)
And on the reserves theme, there is there to my mind only a few league/on the cusp of league players who have been playing reserves. The incredible result of the reserves is either a reflection of reserves teams across the board and/or the quality of the coaching. Obviously John Armstrong is the coach, and maybe assisted by David Ellard (?). I know Armstrong helps the league on match day - why canât he bring that cleverness to the league?
I did also watch the replay, in which the game looked different, so my comments are based on the live experience.
From the perspective of a Swans supporter it was the best game Iâve seen in years. Good use of the footy and some great passages of play. Ferals supporters may not have seen it the same. But for us, for once few skillsâ errors and stupid decisions.
Also, I have never seen a player have so much influence on a game and yet have so few stats, let alone the lowest of all involved.
That said, I donât think too much can be taken from the game: one swallow does not make a summer. It has been a schizophrenic season for most teams and I suspect that the ferals had expected to cruise to a win.
Iâm not, however, prepared to allow the ferals excuses for injuries. Whilst accepting that they were missing good mids, Swans were missing some first 23, including some much needed height. Youâll get no info from the numnuts - Pasini back this week?
I do need to mention that had Swans lost by less than a goal, one player would have had to accept at least part responsibility.
Finally, special mention to Seb Bright for the fantastic season he is having and for sacrificing his own game for the greater good.
