Quite the scenes down at Melville last Saturday when late in the last term Melville had come back from a 5-goal deficit and the manual scoreboard had them winning by 1 point with 3-4min left to play. Melville were in save the game mode while Ath was throwing everything at them trying to get the elusive winning goal but to no avail.
The siren has sounded and Melville rejoiced while Ath was in despair, seemingly headed to the rooms for the ultimate spray after losing to the winless rams, only for the umpires to inform them that in fact Ath had won by 5 points. A massive sense of relief felt by Ath but not enough for the coach to let them sing the song.
