No Football Budget this year

They’re front runners over here Ole D,the South Aussies (who have a smaller population)still get 3 to 4 k crowds for home and away games, and up to 40k for grand finals, whilst 59000 morons here will go out of their way,to watch mismatched 8-0 women’s soccer drubbings, like the Australia Phillipines debacle.

We can throw them that challenge too.Renew their Love for more than just State of Origin and dare them to go back to their old Club and stick with 'em,rather than just picking the top Clubs over the Years and dropping off, when it becomes all too hard to bear in a Bad Season.

Good discussion on the budget situation on sport fm this morning. Cowan, the memorabilia guy, interviewed. 100k of sponsorship needed. He’s kept every WAFL budget he’s had.

Maybe the AFL could pay for it.

I spoke to an ex club employee this morning. He thought an extra 1k crowd to a game would make clubs viable. Also thought that Saturdays were busy days for people.

I much prefer Saturdays myself. Much more enjoyable beers.

Re the budget, I think we should be able to work something out between the clubs. Some minimal paper or digital document, either weekly or monthly etc. the ladders etc aren’t necessary. The stories are a bit bland anyway. Though I liked the memorabilia. And I like the player data.

You’re right Royal it will be all Kerr and her carpet munching mates for the next few weeks. Media blitz with the good old West leading the way.
The footy budget going is just the latest thing to disappear. Every year there seems another nail is driven into the WAFL coffin. All the free loaders from the AFL were here for the state of origin promising money for this and that but never a decent injection for the WAFL. If it’s not women’s footy then it’s indigenous schemes. Anything to appeal to be seen as the virtuous keepers of the game.

Be nice if the AFL could pay for it ,Johnny.

But they’d tie MASSIVE Strings to it,so F that option with respect to your good self!

I still vividly remember the poor sods selling them at the gates
totally overwhelmed by the hundreds and thousands of people
desperate to get their hands on a copy before the game
and piles of them on the ground around them
their satchels full to the brim of coins & notes

Yep,I don’t begrudge punters watching world class sporting action, but 59000 found the motivation to watch an 80th ranked part time professional Phillipines women’s soccer team, playing the “Tillies”who truth be told, would get belted by the Perth Glory men’s team, who struggle to draw the reported home 10k crowd figure they apparently need to break even.

Real shame that its lost but the thing and print was getting so small I could hardly read it in the end.

Cant say I saw many people using it last few years.

More AFL is played on a Sunday now that ever. The tiny number of People at Amatuer games dont go and have hardly ever gone to WAFL. WAAFL was always played on the same day as WAFL in the big WAFL day crowds.

Supporters Clubs and Players when asked have consistently voted to play on a Saturday when asked, Sunday crowds are always lower, why they played the WAFL GF on Sunday last year I will never know when it was not a long weekend, and it impacted the crowd size and numbers at celebrations after the game.

Fucken oath, the only player I would pay to watch is the heterosexual Mary Fowler. She is a class act on and off the pitch. She is a joy to watch. I don’t know what this has got to do the footy budgets tho.

Unfortunately the option of a Grand Final at Perth Stadium on Sunday before Show Day,is Out this Season, due to a WALLABIES TEST(tbc)being slotted in on the 27th and the prospect of more in September/October in following Years.

The Current State Government will gobble any Test hosting rights up and WAFL Grand Final be damned! This current ALP will NEVER get my Vote back,if they ever got it(maybe 2017).

Hasnt COOKED moved all the public holidays around?

The most COOKED thing he did was move the June long weeked to the same weekend as VICTORIA AFL so now we have lost our unique WA FOOTY Day and AFL will be played and broadcast v WAFLS biggest day.

WA Foudation day in NOVEMBER …WTF happened in November that relates to ours states founding?

I thought you told us they did?

I don’t think they touched SHOW Day,but if they make a Habit of ARRANGING Wallabies Tests that Weekend,…

Gee this topic quickly became political.

In relation to the WAFL season Anchorman.

If we want a Grand Final at Perth Stadium the Sunday of Show Weekend,I fear the State Government has cut off that option.

On Purpose.

That opinion is from someone Left of Centre(in the main).

The Wallabies test is the day after the AFL Grand Final. The WAFL Grand Final is fixtured the weekend before, so the game will still be played at Perth Stadium.

Yes,but Future Tests locked in the day before the Show Day Public Holiday,Rules thar Option out.

As for our Grand Final, has the Football Commission booked in Sunday the 20th,in case Freo qualify for a Home Preliminary that VERY Day?

As for the Football Budget, what on earth does the Football Commission think it’s going to do,in providing the Spectators with information that day?

Especially the 6 Teams involved in the 3 Grand Finals?

Not to forget the WAFLW and Rogers Cup Finals as well

There has not been a SHOWDAY Public Holiday for many decades, the Sep Long Weekend is Queens Kings BD, which is now moving to the same weekend as Victoria the one after Foundation Day.

WA Foudation Day is moving to November…and Ill ask again - whats the WA connection - its not Melbourne Cup day is it??? Seems COOKED is all about suiting the Eastern Mobs…
