Crikey!!
Thanks. Have any footy leagues prospered under the AFL and the WAFC?
The possible WAFLW team to wear the black and red, Perth Angels, asked not to be in it as zoned players would not allow them to be competitive.
Just saying…
Definitely not mate - several have just gone
We had an excellent Sunday League comp once that produced several absolute stars for our league - it was a powerful comp and the best after the SWFL in Bunbury
Also had a good Sunday Amateur league and the Metropolitan FL with Mosman Park and the like in it too
Gone

Wasn’t there the SSMFL and the WAFA from memory.
Yes and I think the WAFA was the one I was referring to mate - the old South Suburban Murray ended up being the Current Peel thing didn’t it or at least replaced by ???

I think the two comps morphed into the SFL and then the clubs joined the ammos.
Be interesting if Perth were to clean sweep Cl today, I wonder if the Cl boys will be on here asking for their zones to be fixed?..we all know a week is a long time in footy…

Surely they would get their valet to do that?
Seems like Perth have extra players today in their colts or Cl have less players…Perth up by 20, Cl scoreless, 14 Perth inside 50s 14 to Cl 2…either the WAFC have jumped on the STT “fix the Perth zone” bandwagon over night and actually implemented a few immediate changes or those ex Cl and EF zone recruits have stepped up to the plate
Claremont was going to lodge an official request for an expanded zone with the WAFC on Monday based on the first quarter.
Our zone seems to have improved in the second quarter though - maybe it took a while for our boys to acclimatise to the non-coastal environment out at Lathlain.
Very clever, Freeze and TT, to seize on one quarter of football to disprove the argument. TT, if the concern was playing at Lathlain, that might explain the first quarter - if your boys were there, we were playing at Claremont. Anyway, we have kicked 2.4 since quarter time. Our two best players are Quartermaine and Avery, from EF and C respectively.
I don’t understand why anyone would think footy is in some way immune from the adverse effects that lower socio-economic status brings. It is well recognised, all across the Western world, that people of lower socio-economic standing have worse outcomes in almost every measure. Health - substance use, obesity, smoking, dentition - crime, education, you name it. Our list has 36 players who have played league footy. Only two - Byrne and Penny - have come from lower-social-economic metro zones. They are both from Thornlie, and Penny is unlikely to add to his single league game. So no-one from Belmont, Maddington, Kenwick, Gosnells. There are, I think, very few local players knocking on the door from the reserves and our colts are clearly in for a long season.
Dear Freezin and Tiger Tales,
You are two mean spirited and very disappointing individuals.
King regards

Haha some funny posts here, even S42 showing a sense of humour. Yes a week is a long time in football, so is 2 hours as shown by the score line in the colts. Still, I’ll take a 43 point drubbing over a 102 point annihilation any day.
Ease up on the facts Ted, they don’t want to hear it. Great work.
How did Perth get Avery from Claremont? He was almost their best colt last year …what was it…33 disposals in the GF in 2020.
I’d be playing him league right now from what I’ve seen.
Can’t be far off I agree.
I mean the idea of Claremont colts playing league footy for PFC is appalling but that aside…

Next week mate straight in…bit of time mid…bit of time up forward…190cm 6ft3…you’ve struck monty gold there
Dear TT and F, looking forward to your smart arse comments about 3/4 time score in the twos so I can point out that most of our score kicked by ex Claremont player.
To go with ex Claremont player being our best in the colts pumping.
Jerks.

Completely tongue in cheek Ted - the first quarter our colts might as well of been at Lathlain.
Just like a quarter doesn’t make a game, two games doesn’t make a season. Perth have been unfortunate to come up against two of the Top 4 colts sides so far this year.
It’s been mentioned before but Perth has produced a number of quality players over the last 30 years who have gone on to the AFL. Perth’s biggest issues seem to be that:
- very few return back to Perth post AFL career. Why?
- second tier players don’t seem to continue on and forge out good WAFL careers. Again why?
If you feel Claremont’s zone is that much better than others, let’s assume it is an outlier and remove it from the discussion for just a moment.
Given that the WAFC endeavours to set metro zones that provide relatively even participation levels around the WAFL clubs home base, do we think that Perth’s zone is worse than other clubs?
I don’t believe Perth faces bigger or different issues to most, if not all clubs. Every clubs zones have issues - you can identify them and work to overcome them or you can use them as an excuse.
If you reckon you can fix socio economic issues you should be in government as they can’t do it.
Perth don’t have the best zone so to think it’s as simple as working hard is a ridiculous comment.
Every colts team bar claremont has up and down years, some more down than up
