Big Bash XIV- 14

A good start would be to banish the likes of has beens Tye, Kelly, Hurst, Jennings etc to the sidelines for good.
And start bringing some local WA based youth through eg- Jackson, Beardman, Curtis, Wyllie, Wasley, Critchell, Fanning, Holt, Goodwin, Vernon, Greer etc.
We know what will happen if they dont start giving these youngsters a go, the East Coast vultures will pounce on them!

Pretty sure someone else on here said watching Teague Wyllie bat, was like watching paint dry…not sure the BBL is Teague’s forte mate…understand the push for local based youth though…

Goodwin is the more stodgy type batsman Freeze.
Was more about giving these WA boys an opportunity instead of wasting time and money on overseas hacks like Jennings & Hurst and previously Lyth, DuPlessis, Qadir etc…as we all know the East Coast vultures are watching the WA youngsters like a hawk due to our success in previous seasons!

Does anyone know for certain if each Franchise has to take three imports each season? Is it a competition rule? Or can they take as few as one or perhaps, none?

OTO my understanding is the rules have changed, for BBL 14.
Sydney Thunder traded one of their International players. To the Adelaide Strikers for Wez Agar.
As a minimun each franchise will have 1 International import. As its outside the current salary cap.Similar to the A League soccer.
.

appearing likely now that Webster will stay in and bowl both his varieties and Connelly will also come in to replace Cummins
Head & Labuschane will trundle their spin too

Cheers, gtr.

AJ Pie with the second most expensive figures in BBL history.
0-64 off 4 overs.

Gee I couldnt believe they picked Pie again and then he gives up a lazy 63 off his bowling…unbelievable.
Has he got photos of the coaches/selectors?
It makes absolutely no sense to continue to play the bloke…he was done 4 years or more ago!

BH not sure why they dont elevate a bowler from Grade Cricket.
Maby hes playing because our International players are so bad in 14.

Sadly with Richo not too far behind with those figures of Pie today…the Scorchers are making the likes of Smith and Abbott look like elite T20 players…when we know they ain’t…

Freeze they make a habit of that lately.
Fair dinkum I nearly fell off the couch when I heard those NSW muppets in commentary calling for Abbott to be in the Test team in Galle…sheesh!!!

Fanning showed more in his first chance this season then the 2 Pommy benchwarmers Jennings & Hurst did all season.
Former Claremont player Spoors has looked handy especially with the bat in his 2 games as well.
If only they gave the likes of Beardman, Jackson & co an opportunity as well and put Pie & Kelly out to pasture for good!

What a dramatic change in pitch conditions from the test strip which was near unplayable to the T20 road, 426 runs off 40 overs, both teams bowlers were on a hiding to nothing, both lots giving up over 10 runs an over. Sensational innings by Smith, was the difference, a was his let off in the 30’s with that dropped catch, without the additional 80 odd runs he made after the dropped catch, it would have been a very different story, but catches win matches and The Scorchers are pretty much done and dusted for this series. Time to bring in some fresh faces for next season.

Thanks to other results, the Scorchers are still a chance of making the finals if they win their last two games. You would hardly put your house on them though. Can’t remember too many worse bowling performances. Its just embarrassing with Tye now. The fact that Morris was dropped before him was a joke. Fanning and Spoors brought some life into the team and should be persisted with. Where was Mitch Marsh?

Has been “rested” for this interstate trip. That after a one ball innings.

So Marsh needs a rest eh… must of been all that air drumming he did in the changeroom and all those free feeds he indulged on during the test series…because surely one decent knock, and a couple of catches ain’t taxing for a professional cricketer…let alone a first ball T20 duck.

So Richo is off for surgery to stabilize a shoulder he stuffed how many years ago.?..or is this the same shoulder he knackered doing a high five late last year?

With Richardson off for surgery and done for the season its a perfect opportunity to blood Jackson & Beardman to support Berendorff & Morris with Agar & Spoors to provide the spin options over the last 2 games, one at Homebush the other back at Perth Stadium.

Gee thats poor captaincy by Turner again.
The spinners had applied the brakes big time so he goes back to Morris & Behrendorff who concede about 60 in the last 4 overs. Spoors who had bowled well only got the 2 overs.

160 a big chase on a two paced wicket.
The Scorchers have started like a train wreck 5-48.
Very critical of Turners bowling rotations. On Abc radio saying its cost the Scorchers at least 30 runs.Saying 120 was a defendable total on another crapola Nsw wicket.
