Finals start Tuesday. Scorchers finished on top. Play second placed Hurricanes at Perth stadium.
Last of the qualififying games tomorrow.
If the Sixers beat the Heat tomorrow night, they will finish second with a better run rate over the Hurricanes.
Correct oto. 6ers are a smokey with Starc and Smith bringing a fair bit to the table.
What an incredible cricket team the Scorchers are. After their innings which I though was at least 40 runs shy, they put the foot on the throat of the Sixers and just kept pressing harder with every wicket.
Connolly once again getting a big wicket in his first over.
Beardmann, outstanding with the ball. Picking up the wicket of the best batsman in the world. An outstanding performance.
I would be very surprised if the final next Sunday doesn’t draw 50,000.
And forgot the mention against a team that boasts thethe best batsman, Smith and bowler, Starc, in the world.
What time is it meant to start?
Thankfully,it’s on Sunday and the weather is cooler.
Heard there were a few empty seats tonight, surprisingly.
Probably too hot for many. Sitting in and looking into the sun all day would turn some off.
Lot of angst from some re the availability of Smith and Starc, and the unfairness of it all…good sides rise to the challenge and win regardless…well done to the PS, great performance by the team…Always good to see a few bowling plans come to fruition…
Only T20, and not the GF, but always good to see a Perth team beat a team from over east…especially one from Sydney. Hopefully the PS can go all the way, tine will tell.
If players don’t need to play 2 or 3 games to qualify for Finals Freeze, fair enough.
Funny though that these 2 just happen to play for Cricket Australia, errrr,I mean New South Wales, oops,I mean a team from New South Wales,….

How many games do you think a player needs to ‘play’ to qualify mate?..it’s a 10 match season…with a Test series during it…if colts or reserves players need a 5 match minimum, to qualify for finals after 18 WAFL games…then 2 BBL matches sounds ok to me…which both Starc and Smith played…it’s not as though they were recruited last minute…been in the Sixers squad from the start from memory
I hope Beardman isnt being pigeon holed as a white ball bowler only?!
Hopefully he is picked in the SS side when it resumes soon.
I like his bowling action.
I watch the BBL men’s and women’s comps not much other cricket. I have foxtel and quite enjoy the commentary, others don’t but your choice.
I mistakenly flicked through and clicked on 7’s end of game commentary, I had to double check who won the game listening to the three muppets and Moises Henriques comments. the 6ers lost the game through poor shot choice, trying to hit the ball to the wrong part of the field, not bowling well enough, he reckoned they should have kept the Scorchers to about 80. It seems that Scorchers batters, fielders and bowlers had no effect on the outcome.
When they started to talk abt Smith I am sure the podium moved cos they all cracked chubbies, pathetic and sad really.

One of the reasons I refuse to watch C7.
Much prefer to listen to the Fox crew. Well most of them.

Proportional to 6 to 20
I am starting to think Mr Smith would put Mr WG Grace to Shame with some of his antics, after hearing Sports Breakfast this Morning.
I could picture Dunny screwing up his face with what was described, when Smith was batting.

Off topic, but is Tom Hogan , now playing for the U19s related to the foremer West Aussie and test player Tom Hogan?
And another question. What is Cooper Connolly’s
reason for success as a slow tweaker.
He doesn’t seem to be a spinner of the ball, but uses flight, an arm ball, and change of pace.
What ever it is, will it stand up to the level of internation cricket?
Try sending your Tom Hogan inquiry to the Sorts Breakfast Team on Sport FM,Anchor.
I’m sure one of them will know,or John Townsend, who must be due a chat with Mr Grubelich.
Maybe send a quick text soon, just after 2 when his show starts and he gives a rundown on his guests today.
But if a colt is playing at a higher level, during the colts year, eg State Champs, isn’t that included in a colts finals qualification? So Smith and Starc were playing at a higher level(International) during the BBL, thus surely that must be considered as well?
Rather beat Sixers best side than give them the excuse Smith and Starc weren’t playing.
The ball that got Baba Azzam was a well flighted classic offie by Cooper.
I believe so,Colts wise!
But our Competitions and CA’s are most likely 2 different beasts,Rules wise.
So I Imagine Smudge and Mitch can play regardless.
It didn’t bother me they play, given my preference for Sheffield Shield for starters.
It’s just 2 star attractions being quickly drafted into a NSW Team, that aroused my cynicism.
Good on the Scorcher boys for getting 1 step closer to Winning it!
