The BBL kicked off last night at Perth Stadium, with Perth Scorchers coming out winners in the rain, storm shortened game.Restricted to 11 overs a side.
Sydney sixers batted first and made 5/113. Jack Edwards top scored with 46 and Crouch taking 2/26 for Scorchers.
In response Perth won, 5/117.Cooper Connmelly top scoring with 59.He is a great pressure type player, and looks good in all three brands of cricket.
I didn’t see any of the game so not sure what sort of crowd it drew.
Yes,would be very interested to hear about that Figure.
On a different scale, despite 3 Wins in a row,Glory only drew 6 800,albeit on a lousy day for The World Game.
Temp hit 35 Celsius on Saturday, didn’t it?
Not a fan of soccer. Never have been. Don’t take much notice.
I am.
Nowhere near the Real Afficionados of the Game,I admit.
But have followed Liverpool since they went for the Treble since late ‘76/77 and took an interest in The World Cup since ‘82.
Thanks to Les Murrray and SBS,I follow other Clubs like Flamengo,Independiente,Borussia Dortmund,AS Roma and Depor for starters, plus Boavista and Queens Park in Scotland.
Certainly don’t follow either of the Old Firm for 1 reason. No prizes for guessing!
Back to the cricket…
Sheffield Shield for me with WA.
And the ODD’s as well.
Might catch a 20/20 in Melbourne,but otherwise,not really.
Scorchers have a great batting line up this year headed by Cooper Connelly who is going to be a key player in the upcoming world cup
How hopeless are the Scorchers bowlers?
All want to bowl half track or half volleys.
Any chance of bowling a yorker!
Fancy giving up 260 with a ball to spare!
Couch smashed for 60 off 3 overs lol.
Surely Connolly had to bowl another over or 2 instead of Paris?
Unbelievable really that they couldnt defend 257 and in fact only took 2 wickets in the whole chase and one of those was the first ball! All it needed was for a few inexpensive overs to put more pressure on them but it seemed most of them couldnt keep it down below double figures other than Connelly who only bowled 2. I recall the WA one day team coughed up a game in Brisbane in a similar way earlier in the season when they seemed well on their way to victory
Turner has not captained the Scorchers well in the past few seasons, maybe Marsh should take over.
I was hearing much of the Scorcher Bowling DISASTER on ABC Radio thinking WTF are they doing?
And why aren’t they bowling yorkers on the Stumps?
Often?

Ha Ha Ha
geez well if the wheels haven’t fallen off WA cricket
they are shredded , bent , buckled and corroded
and wedged against the chassis at 45 degrees
they really do need to get rid of that coach
it just isn’t a workable thing anymore
Geez if Jack Wildermuth can plunder a ton, one’s bowling attack must be leaking big time. Not sure how excited the Renshaw fan club should get after that knock of his either…it was only against a bowling attack offering a buffet of half volley’s…got to be a bad day in the office surely?..especially if folk are calling for CC to bowl more overs. ![]()
It looked like a case of two very very ordinary bowling attacks last night at the Gabba.
On a ground marked very small, the batsmen had an absolute picnic in the game.Easy to hit a six when the boundaries are in so short.
Great entertainment for the crowd , but not really a good look for the BBL.
But though he took a bot of tap, it was good to see Jhye Richardson once again bowling and he bowled pretty quickly, another good sign.
Cooper Connolly is showing signs again of how promising a player he is.
The Scorchers have been nutted in two close games of late.
The game at the Gabba was a game they never should have lost. That was unforgivable.
The Hurricanes loss was a case of the batssmen not doing enough. At least 20 runs short.
A couple of bad fielding mistakes cot them against the Canes. Both inbvolved Evan and Turner. Not sure either were happy with each other after the two blunders.
What ever has happened to two of the reliable player from the past, Turner and Hardie! Both their batting form is verry much below par.
And Hardies bowling is at the best ordinary. Two of our most vital players badly out of form.
Connllly is getting better with every game and was quite impressed by Beardmans performance witht he ball.
When Turner is on, he certainly is a joy to watch…so clean with his striking…pity he missed out on a well deserved 100…but alas not to be.
How folk like Michael Vaughan, were pushing Mitch Marsh’s name forward for that 1st test team beggars belief…the Bison hype is hilarious from the commentators…no doubt will make me eat humble pie in the T20 WC, but the fella has a technique, with more holes than a slice of swiss cheese.
Freeze Connelly on a hat~trick
Beardman vs Konstance to Aussie under 19 Internationals
I think I heard BJ say that he couldn’t get back on strike with 3 balls to go. Shame.
Not many cleaner hitters around when he is on song.
A/man. Agar went for a big leg side shot to the boundary with 2 balls to go and got caught. He could have tapped it and taken a single giving Turner the last ball of the innings to get his hundred. Pretty ordinary from Agar for mine.
Sadly, I never realised the game was on today.
Missed rhe major part of ths game. Saw Connolly get his first wicket.
