You have to laugh.
Apparently Webster “cashed in” after Green did all the work ![]()
Try he batted sensibly and didnt throw his wicket away with yet another soft dismissal.
Thats what Test cricket is all about taking your chances and Green seems too dopey too realise this!
Yeah,Cam did throw his Wicket Away,Most Frustratingly to him and many others backing him in to get his Batting together.
CA will back him in as the Number 1 All Rounder, when they’re only playing one.
But Webster certainly showed he is worthy of his spot in the Team.
PS - Not going well for Cam at the moment.Just grassed one, that was Smith’s Catch and he’s coughing up runs forward of the Wicket,as opposed to runs bleeding behind it.
I think it was Doug Walters who said of a Team Mate,“Never mind China.Just a good player, having a Rough Trot!”
He probably needs Doug to just give him a pat on the back to perk him up,right now.
Grassy this is what happens when you play players who are completely out of form!
Now he has just put down Duckett on 38 by diving across in front of Smith who would have eaten that catch for breakfast and now he is bowling his 6 runs an over absolute rubbish yet again!
But no doubt the lame excuses will come from the usual lot of apologists…
2 dropped catches for Green i believe

Darn,….
LOL BH…going off your past rants the entire Aust top 6 are out of form…interesting for a fella who has called the Aust test team the proverbial Dads Army…you are going into bat for another 30 + something selection…ypu gotta laugh I guess…you were way off the mark at the start of the series with your 5 zip Eng selection…and how Eng fantastic top notch test quality attack was going to rip Aust fragile batting a new one.
I guess you got to hang your hat on to something to save grace BH…so kudos to you mate everyone needs that ..“I told you so” moment…
As an Aussie fan, I have no control on who is selected, just support the 11 selected, amd hope they deliver…obviously Green is struggling, but I guess that knock yesterday, was better then getting out first ball, and making Webster return to test cricket an even more testing one than he had to face yesterday…imagine if Green had done that …I can just imagine all the compliments coming off folks keyboard if that had happened
It is showing again.
Geez that Webster is a good bowler…where has Aust been hiding him? ![]()
Blockquote
Great catch by you know who and England all of a sudden are 5 Wickets down, after 2 Wickets in an Over by Beau Webster.
The 1st greeted by a running hug from Green.
Could have done some damage, but Webster survived.
Main thing was Cam was very happy for him or and I’m sure there’s no hard feelings either way.
I think they know, both will be in the Test Team together for quite some time, bringing a better balance between Batsmen and Bowlers.
Khawaja Retires, the All Rounders go up the order or either side of Carey and a Spinner or Fast Bowler slides in,when necessary.
I don’t think there would ever be any angst between either of them. They are both there to win games of cricket for Australia.
A great knock from Bethell. Not bad for your first first class hundred.
Smith takes another blinder to get rid of Stokes.
Have to wind up the Poms inning early tomorrow.Small score are never a strong suit of Australia.
I don’t think Aust missed a trick notvpicking Murphy…seems like Webster’s height helped a lot…perhaps Rocchiccioli would of been better suited on that pitch if Aust had played a specialist spinner…think Eng might regret not selecting Bashir…time will tell…agree Anchor…Aust are notorious for fudging up small totals…especially v Eng!
Murphy may as well give up the game - I reckon the comments were on the money if he wasn’t picked for this test, he won’t play at home whatsoever. The fact webster is getting good turn and doesn’t bowl spin at shield level is an indictment on all spinners around the country. Maybe that’s the best way for Beau to play test cricket, work on his spin bowling?
Interestingly if the ACB wants to get involved in the wicket fiasco the first thing they need to do, in my opinion, is to tell the states to better prepare wickets for shield cricket. There seems to be a big price on getting results rather than making wickets that allow everyone to play. Because we are chasing results in shield cricket, we don’t have good batters that can bat and we don’t have spinners coming through. We do have quicks that can bowl but its a bit boring not having spinners involved
Even though the Aussies have won the series, I think there has been enough chatter going around to make CA have a look at the set up.And by that I mean the coaches, the selectors and maybe even the influence the skippers have had on the playing group. And maybe even CA itself needs to have a look at themselves in the mirror.
Not before time!
But isn’t that the’reason why Langer got the flick… too controlling for his own good? It’s a boys club Aust cricket…always has been…why change now?
Gee how did that Webster bloke get a game.
71 no.
3 for.
Pity he wasn’t identified earlier in his career. Imagine if he was picked for Australia at the age of 25. Green aged what 24 or 25 now seems he’s been around forever. When did he make his debut for Australia age 20 or 21?
One of the things I hate about Greens batting technique and I can’t recall anyone else doing this, is he stares half way down the pitch it seems the whole time not looking at the bowler until just before the bowler is in his delivery stride.
Is that a flaw in his technique? I would have thought watching the bowler all the way in his run up puts you in rhythm with the bowler. I’d like to see him spend time with Kim Hughes in the nets on his technique.
RnB…Green was averaging 50 + in FC when selected for Aust…Webster even at 32 averages 30’s in FC, and never averaged above 40 in FC before his test debut…he would be the first to say he wasn’t ready…just a simple case of late maturity in understanding his game…folk bleat about regeneration and succession all the time in team sports with youth…
Green was/is that…back in the day youngsters batted 6 on debut…and then gradually elevated up the order as they found their feet…Ponting, Waugh, Langer, Smith etc…Green has batted 3 -8 since his debut…understand the importance of flexibility…but he definitely has been asked to adopt many a different role, which obviously he doesn’t have maturity to do so…unlike Webster, being 6 years older.
Only the wise say Regeneration is called for when necessary.
Khawaja and Hazelwood are 2 such examples.
As for Green and Webster, stick them both in the Test Team for now and see how they manage some Afghan Turn,at The Top End in June or July.
Too hard for them to understand I am afraid Freez.
Hatred or obsession, not sure which.
